Long Jump
SHORT STORY: Louis Gordon broke his own program record in the long jump to qualify for nationals and
Hassan Abidi advanced to the 800m quarterfinals, Wednesday.
KEY NOTES
- Louis Gordon highlighted the day breaking his own record with a 7.83m long jump. In just two jumps, of the allotted three, Gordon finished in first place to advance to the NCAA National Championships.
- Simone Menchini opened the day with a 7.30m jump. After a four-hour storm delay, the final flights closed and he finished 24th, an improvement on his 43rd-ranked distance on the season.
- Tooni Ogunyeye competed in the 100m dash at approximately 11 pm for a 30th-place finish. Coming into the meet tied for the 49th-best time in the region, he surpassed expectations to finish top 30 in the NCAA East region.
- Hassan Abidi closed out the night with a midnight 800m race in 1:47.91. Running an excellent final 200m, Abidi finished third in his heat to auto-qualify and advance to Friday's race for a chance to compete at the NCAA National Championship.
