LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
- The Great Danes added to their winning record and picked up a win against Binghamton (2.1) on the road.
- UAlbany got out to an early lead, 26-11, after 10 minutes of action. The Bearcats fought back, including an 18-8 advantage, in the fourth quarter but the Great Danes secured the win, 65-54.
- Graduate student Kayla Cooper led the team with 21 points and nine rebounds. Fellow graduate students Kaci Donovan (14) and Lily Phillips (13) also scored double-digit points.
GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany ended the non-conference season with just three losses while securing the best 10-game start in Division I history (9-1).
- The team's first loss of the season came in its crosstown matchup at Siena (12.7). The second two came against Power-Four teams at the end of the calendar year - Wisconsin (12.20) and #6 LSU (12.29).
- Going undefeated in November, UAlbany earned a double-digit season-opening victory against Rhode Island (11.8) while adding head coach Colleen Mullen's first win over a Power Four (Five) at Syracuse (11.20). Additional wins in November were against Dartmouth (11.13), Sacred Heart (11.16), Cornell (11.23) and RPI (11.27).
- The Great Danes added wins against Stonehill (12.1), Boston U (12.10), St. Bonaventure (12.14), and Merrimack (12.16) in December.
- UAlbany kicked off conference season with six consecutive wins - Vermont (1.2), UMass Lowell (1.4), New Hampshire (1.9), Maine (1.11), Bryant (1.16) and Binghamton (1.18).
- The Purple and Gold picked up their first loss of the conference season against UMBC (1.23) but bounced back with a pair of wins against NJIT (1.25) and Binghamton (2.1).
- Kayla Cooper leads with 17.6 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, 64 assists, and 34 steals.
- Kaci Donovan follows with 12.2 points per game and four rebounds per game.
- Graduate student Jessica Tomasetti is second on the team with 41 assists and 27 steals.
- Junior Gabriela Falcão owns a team-high 26 blocks.
- As a team, the Great Danes are shooting .455 from the field, with a 34.6% accuracy from downtown, and .785 from the line.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Senior Laycee Drake is four assists away from making it 100 in her career.
- Kayla Cooper is 27 points from hitting 1,750 in her career and 40 points from becoming the Great Danes' second all-time leading scorer.
- Jessica Tomasetti is 42 points away from 1250 career points while Lilly Phillips is 35 points from 750 in her career.
HISTORY MADE
- The Great Danes finished a spectacular performance in the non-conference season, fueled by the leadership of head coach Colleen Mullen.
- After defeating St. Bonaventure on Saturday (12.14), UAlbany sealed the best 10-game start in Division I program history with just one loss.
- Previously, the best 10-game start in Division I program history was 8-2, including one season under head coach Colleen Mullen. Five teams earned the 8-2 start: 2012-13, 2013-14, 2015-16, 2017-18, 2023-24.
HAPPY AT HOME
- The Great Danes have paved the way for a historic season with an incredible record at home as they remain undefeated through the 2024-25 season in the Broadview Center.
- UAlbany has lost just five games at home since the start of the 2021-22 season.
- Going undefeated at home in non-conference play, Maine took the second-to-last regular-season home game of the 2021-22 season.
- Flipping the book for the 2022-23 season, UAlbany fell to Colgate and Cornell at "home" (Saint Rose and HVCC, respectively) while Broadview Center was undergoing its transformational overhaul.
- The Great Danes fell only twice during the 2023-24 season at home; both times being against Vermont.
ABOUT BRYANT
- The Bulldogs are 12-10 on the season with a 5-4 America East record.
- Both Bryant and UAlbany faced Merrimack, Stonehill, and Cornell. Both the Bulldogs and the Great Danes secured wins over each common opponent they shared.
- Bryant grabbed seven non-conference victories in November.
- The Bulldogs were unable to win a game throughout the month of December.
- After opening conference action with a win at New Hampshire (1.2), Bryant lost three consecutive contests - Maine (1.4), Vermont (1.11), and UAlbany (1.16).
- The Bulldogs came back to win three straight games - UMass Lowell (1.18), New Hampshire (1.23), and Binghamton (1.25).
- Most recently, Bryant added a loss against UMBC (1.30) and a win against NJIT (2.1).
- Leading the team's offensive efforts, Mia Mancini and Ali Brigham are both averaging 11.0 points per game while Breezie Williams is just behind with 10.9.
- Mancini also owns the team-highs in assists (68) and steals (25).
- Supporting the team's defense, Brigham leads the team in blocks with 26.
- Nia Scott has garnered a league-high 8.5 rebounds per game including 67 offensive boards.
- As a unit, the Bulldogs are shooting 40.7% from the field, including 29.4% from three-point range, and maintain a free-throw percentage of 66.0%.
SERIES AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 6-1.
- Current head coach, Colleen Mullen is the only one to face Bryant and so owns the same 6-1 record against the Bulldogs.
- UAlbany is currently on a six-game winning streak against Bryant with the only loss ever to come from the Bulldogs being in their first meeting in 2019.
ABOUT VERMONT
- The Catamounts finished the non-conference season with five wins and nine losses.
- Seeing one overlapping opponent, both Vermont and UAlbany competed at Dartmouth - the Great Danes tabbed a three-point win while the Catamounts went home with a 24-point victory.
- Three of UVM's wins came in the first two weeks of competition - Missouri (11.4), Holy Cross (11.16), and Dartmouth (11.18).
- Beginning with the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout (11.22-23), the Catamounts went 2-7 to end the non-conference slate.
- Vermont lost to UAlbany (1.2) to open America East play.
- After their first game of 2025, the Catamounts won seven consecutive contests, including a regular-season sweep over Binghamton.
- Their win streak was snapped with a loss at Maine on Saturday (2.1).
- Anna Olson has been pivotal, averaging 13.5 points per game to lead the Catamounts' scoring efforts.
- Bella Vito fuels the defensive efforts with team-highs - 6.3 rebounds per game and 51 steals.
- Catherine Gilwee leads in assists with 92 while Nikola Priede owns the team-high in blocks with 23.
- Collectively, the Catamounts are shooting 44.3% from the field, 32.8% from three-point range, and maintaining a 70.5% free-throw percentage.
SERIES AGAINST THE CATAMOUNTS
- UAlbany currently leads the series by two wins for an overall record of 28-26.
- Current head coach, Colleen Mullen, owns a 6-8 record against Vermont during her time with UAlbany.
- The Catamounts were the only team in the conference to sweep the Great Danes during the 2023-24 season. They were also the only team to beat UAlbany at home that same season.
- Vermont ended the Great Danes America East Tournament run in both 2023 and 2024. UVM defeated UAlbany in the championship matchup in Burlington in 2023 before beating UAlbany in the semifinal round at Broadview Center in 2024.
- Earlier this season, the Great Danes opened conference action with a January 2 victory over Vermont at Broadview Center.

- Coaches Colleen Mullen and Dwayne Killings, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Dan Bahl and Michael Johnson Jr. every Monday from 6-7 pm live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'.
- Fans are invited to come to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Mullen, Coach Killings, the student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew.
- Food and drink specials will be available on a weekly basis as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday.
AMERICA EAST STANDINGS
- UAlbany remains at the top of the conference at 8-1.
- Vermont and Maine are tied for second at 7-2. Both have lost to UAlbany at Broadview Center.
- Bryant (5-4) rounds out the top four with the last winning record.
- NJIT sits just under .500 with four wins and five losses.
- UMBC and Binghamton are tied with three wins each. The Retrievers hold the slight advantage with five losses to the Bearcats' six.
- New Hampshire (2-7) and UMass Lowell (1-8) are at the bottom of the table having lost multiple games in a row.
