LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
- The Great Danes took their first loss of the conference season against UMBC (1.23) and picked up a win against NJIT (1.25) on the road.
- Kayla Cooper tabbed a double-double in the Great Danes' loss to the Retrievers. After a strong first quarter from UMBC, the Purple and Gold tried to work their way back on top but eventually fell, 71-59.
- UAlbany bounced back with a 16-point win over NJIT. The Great Danes had four double-digit scorers - Kaci Donovan (19), Jessica Tomasetti (16), Cooper (14), and Martina Borrellas (10).
GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany ended the non-conference season with just three losses while securing the best 10-game start in Division I history (9-1).
- The team's first loss of the season came in its crosstown matchup at Siena (12.7). The second two came against Power-Four teams at the end of the calendar year - Wisconsin (12.20) and #6 LSU (12.29).
- Going undefeated in November, UAlbany earned a double-digit season-opening victory against Rhode Island (11.8) while adding head coach Colleen Mullen's first win over a Power Four (Five) at Syracuse (11.20). Additional wins in November were against Dartmouth (11.13), Sacred Heart (11.16), Cornell (11.23) and RPI (11.27).
- The Great Danes added wins against Stonehill (12.1), Boston U (12.10), St. Bonaventure (12.14), and Merrimack (12.16) in December.
- UAlbany kicked off conference season with six consecutive wins - Vermont (1.2), UMass Lowell (1.4), New Hampshire (1.9), Maine (1.11), Bryant (1.16) and Binghamton (1.18).
- The Purple and Gold picked up their first loss of the conference season against UMBC (1.23) but bounced back with a win against NJIT (1.25).
- Kayla Cooper leads with 17.5 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game, 63 assists, and 32 steals.
- Kaci Donovan follows with 12.1 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game. Graduate student Jessica Tomasetti has also notched 3.7 rebounds per game.
- Graduate student Lilly Phillips is second on the team with 37 assists while Tomasetti is close behind Cooper with 27 steals.
- Junior Gabriela Falcão owns a team-high 25 blocks.
- As a team, the Great Danes are shooting .455 from the field, with a 34.5% accuracy from downtown, and .777 from the line.
MILESTONE WATCH
- Senior Meghan Huerter notched 500 career points with her third basket against UMBC.
- Lilly Phillips hit a couple of milestones against NJIT - 200 career assists and 100 career steals. Phillips is also two field goals away from 250 in her career.
- Senior Laycee Drake is four assists away from making it 100 in her career.
- Kayla Cooper is 48 points from hitting 1,750 in her career and 61 points from becoming the Great Danes' second all-time leading scorer.
MAKIN' HISTORY
- The Great Danes are at the end of a spectacular performance in the non-conference season, fueled by the leadership of head coach Colleen Mullen.
- After defeating St. Bonaventure on Saturday (12.14), UAlbany sealed the best 10-game start in Division I program history with just one loss.
- Previously, the best 10-game start in Division I program history was 8-2, including one season under head coach Colleen Mullen. Five teams earned the 8-2 start: 2012-13, 2013-14, 2015-16, 2017-18, 2023-24.
HAPPY AT HOME
- The Great Danes have paved the way for a historic season with an incredible record at home as they remain undefeated through the 2024-25 season in the Broadview Center.
- UAlbany has lost just five games at home since the start of the 2021-22 season.
- Going undefeated at home in non-conference play, Maine took the second-to-last regular-season home game of the 2021-22 season.
- Flipping the book for the 2022-23 season, UAlbany fell to Colgate and Cornell at "home" (Saint Rose and HVCC, respectively) while Broadview Center was undergoing its transformational overhaul.
- The Great Danes fell only twice during the 2023-24 season at home; both times being against Vermont.
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
- The Bearcats are currently 11-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
- Both Binghamton and UAlbany faced Cornell, LIU, St. Bonaventure, and Syracuse during this season. The Bearcats secured a victory against Siena but fell to Cornell, St. Bonaventure, and Syracuse while the Great Danes saw wins against those three teams but a loss to Siena in the Albany Cup.
- Binghamton opened the season with consecutive home wins against Pittsburgh at Johnstown (11.4) and Akron (11.7). They then faced a series of challenging games resulting in losses to St. Bonaventure (11.9), Cornell (11.14), and Pittsburgh (11.17).
- The Bearcats rebounded with wins over LIU (11.22) and Canisius (11.25), followed by a victory against Loyola (Md.) (11.30). Subsequent games included a loss to Buffalo (12.4), a narrow win against Siena (12.15), a loss to Syracuse (12.18), and home victories over Molloy (12.20) and SUNY Geneseo (12.30).
- Binghamton began its America East play with a loss to NJIT (1.2) but bounced back with wins against UMBC (1.4), Maine (1.9), and New Hampshire (1.11).
- The Bearcats have most recently taken three consecutive losses to Vermont (1.16), UAlbany (1.18), and Bryant (1.25).
- Binghamton will face Vermont again before the UAlbany match-up on Saturday.
- Leading The Bearcats' scoring efforts, Jadyn Weltz has been pivotal, averaging 10.2 points per game while also recording 41 steals and 59 assists.
- Bella Pucci and Kendall Bennett have combined for 10.2 rebounds per game while Bennett and Abby Misier have tallied 12 and 11 blocks, respectively.
- Collectively, the Bearcats are shooting 41.9% from the field, 31.6% from three-point range, and maintaining a 70.8% free-throw percentage.
SERIES AGAINST THE BEARCATS
- UAlbany holds a 24-game advantage in the series against Binghamton at 51-27.
- Current head coach, Colleen Mullen, owns a 12-2 record against Binghamton during her time with UAlbany.
- Each loss came during contests in Vestal, N.Y. during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. Since then, the Great Danes have won seven straight games against the Bearcats.
- Earlier this season, the Great Danes grabbed a 24-point win over the Bearcats. UAlbany had 4 double-digit scorers - Kayla Cooper (20), Kaci Donovan (12), Lilly Phillips (11), and Meghan Huerter (10) - and recorded a season-high 24 assists.

- Fans are invited to come to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Mullen, Coach Killings, the student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew.
- Food and drink specials will be available on a weekly basis as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday.
AMERICA EAST STANDINGS
- UAlbany remains at the top of the conference at 7-1.
- Vermont comes up in second with just one loss to UAlbany (6-1).
- Maine (5-2) and Bryant (4-3) round out the top four with the remaining winning records.
- Binghamton (3-4) and NJIT (3-4) sit just under .500.
- New Hampshire has won one fourth of their league contests (2-6).
- UMBC (1-5) and UMass Lowell (1-6) grabbed their first wins of the season.
