Killings Finalizes 2022-23 Coaching Staff

ALBANY, N.Y. – Men's basketball Head Coach Dwayne Killings has finalized his coaching staff ahead of the 2022-23 season. Joining the Great Danes are Assistant Coach Ryan Daly and Director of Program Development and Analytics Rudy Wise.

"I love the diversity and differentiated experience for this year's staff," said Killings. "We have high character men that are ready to serve our student-athletes and impact our program and community. This group possesses experience at both the high-major level and within successful Division I programs, has professional playing knowledge, and has held leadership positions that are second to none."

Daly played basketball for the University of Delaware from 2016 to 2018, where he was named the 2016-17 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year after setting freshman records with the Blue Hens for points and rebounds. He totaled 1,000 points in just two seasons, the fastest player to reach that milestone in Delaware history. Daly then transferred to St. Joseph's University, where he played from 2018 to 2021. In the 2019-20 season, he led both the Big 5 and Atlantic 10 (A-10) in scoring, finishing 21st nationally with 20.6 points per game. He followed up his performance in 2020-21, once again claiming the Big 5 scoring title while also ranking in the top five for the A-10. He was just the fourth SJU player since 1947 to average 20 points for a career.

"Ryan Daly is a rising star," said Killings. "We wanted to create opportunities for the next generation of coaches, and I have personally watched him prove people wrong his entire career. I am excited to see him evolve and fulfil his life-long dream of becoming a coach. After hearing from coaches like Phil Martelli and basketball figures such as Jeff Goodman and John Rothstein, the respect he has at this stage in his career is impressive. He will do wonders developing our players, recruiting out of the portal, and serving as a mentor for our student-athletes given his experience at the Division I and professional levels as a player."

Following his collegiate career, Daly became a 3x3 National Championship All-Star, made the Tampa Bay Pro Combine All-Tournament Team, and spent time with the Chicago Bulls Summer League squad, the Maine Celtics, and the Aqua Caliente Clippers.

"I am extremely excited to join the Great Dane family," said Daly. "Coach Killings has a tremendous vision for our program, and I am ready and determined to help this program reach its goals. I'd like to thank Coach Killings and our administration for welcoming me to UAlbany with open arms. Go Great Danes!"

Wise joins the Great Danes after most recently serving as the Associate Director of Admissions, as well as an advisor and the Assistant Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach, at Episcopal High School (EHS) in Virginia. Prior to arriving at EHS, he served as the Associate Director of Admissions at Mercersburg Academy where he also held the title of Assistant Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach. Before Mercersburg, Wise spent 14 years in Philadelphia at Rosemont College, Haverford College, and the University of Pennsylvania. Wise got his start in coaching at the collegiate level as a graduate assistant intern for Villanova University. He received his B.A. from Lake Forest College, his M.A. from Villanova, and his M.P.S. in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University.

"Rudy Wise brings a wealth of experience as an educator, coach, and professional within the business," said Killings. "As we look to continue to expand our program on and off the court, Rudy is the perfect person that understands the true essence of how the business of basketball operates. As we look to grow in the areas of community engagement, NIL, player development, business partnerships and program efficiency, Rudy is the perfect person tasked to help take our program to another level."

Wise added "Coach Killings was instrumental in helping me land my first coaching opportunity at the University of Pennsylvania [12 years ago]. It is a privilege to be a part of a tremendous staff, and to be led by one of the hardest working head coaches in this business. Simply put, when DK [Killings] calls, you answer. Great things are happening at UAlbany, and it's an honor to be a member of this coaching family and to represent this program at a high level."
