GREAT DANE REWIND
- With a defense-first mentality, UAlbany has risen to number one in the nation, holding its opponents to just 47.7 points per game.
- In addition to scoring defense, the Great Danes are 27th in the country, allowing just a .359 field goal percentage from their opponents.
- UAlbany opened the season on a strong note, defeating Hofstra (11/10) for the first time in program history. The 29-point victory over the Pride served as the first of seven games, so far, in which the Great Danes won by at least 20 points.
- The Great Danes closed their non-conference slate with a 7-4 record.
- In the first month of the America East season, UAlbany completed the series against Hartford, UMBC, and UMass Lowell. The Great Danes split the Hartford series and swept both UMBC and UMass Lowell.
- Going undefeated (11-0) at home, all seven of UAlbany's losses have been on the road.
- The Great Danes will begin, and close, their final series against Vermont with a home game on Saturday (Feb. 12) and an away game on Monday (Feb. 14).
- Sophomore Kayla Cooper (286, 12.4 per game) and junior Helene Haegerstrand (261, 11.3 per game) lead the team with their respective point tallies.
- Redshirt-sophomore Abby Robinson leads the team, shooting 75% (6-8) from 28 minutes of play in 10 games. Senior Lucia Decortes holds a .568 (50-88) shooting percentage, leading all players who have seen the court for more than 40 minutes this season.
- Haegerstrand is shooting 36.2% (38-105) from outside the arc to lead the team.
- Cooper leads the team as the only player with over 150 rebounds. She has totaled 166 so far with 101 defensive and 65 offensive rebounds. Decortes passed the 100-rebound mark against Maine, totaling 105 so far.
- Redshirt-sophomore Morgan Haney owns a team-high 55 assists. Freshman Lilly Phillips is close behind with 52.
- Cooper (34) and Haney (33) share the transition spotlight with their respective steal totals.
- Decortes has compiled a team-high 33 blocks. Eleven players on the 13-person roster have totaled at least two blocks.
- Every single player from the 13-person roster saw action and contributed with a point or an assist in the season-opening game - Hofstra.
- Of the 1,335 points scored in 23 games, the bench has tallied 342 points. This includes half (26) of the 52 points scored at Merrimack (11/16), almost half (29) of the 60 points scored against Bryant (12/1), and almost half (32) of the 65 points scored against Canisius (12/15).
- As a team, UAlbany is hitting 41.5% from the field, 32.4% outside the arc, and 64.8% from the free-throw line.
- The Great Danes are averaging 58.0 points per game, 35.9 rebounds per game, and 13.3 assists per game.
ABOUT VERMONT
- The Catamounts are 14-9 overall with an 8-4 America East record.
- Vermont earned a 2-4 record in November with four wins and one non-conference win in December to close the out-of-league schedule with a 6-5 record.
- After opening the conference season with a loss against Maine (12/30), the Catamounts earned their first league win at New Hampshire (1/5).
- Stony Brook and Maine swept the series against Vermont but the Catamounts swept Hartford and New Hampshire.
- Vermont has earned a win in all of their unfinished series against New Hampshire, UMBC, UMass Lowell, and Binghamton.
- The series against UAlbany will begin and close on Saturday (Feb. 12) and Monday (Feb. 14), respectively.
- Anna Olson (277, 12.0) and Emma Utterback (270, 11.7) lead the team in points.
- Playing and starting all 23 games, Olson also owns a team-high .556 shooting percentage.
- Two players who have seen the court in five gaes or less llead outside the arc but of those having seen more than five games, starter Josie Larkins leads with a .393 shooting percentage from downtown.
- Olson also owns a team-high 152 rebounds with 101 defensive rebounds and 51 offensive rebounds.
- Utterback (84 assists), Larkins (32 steals), and Olson (28 blocks) all lead the team with their respective stat totals.
- As a team, Vermont is hitting 41.3% from the field, 32.9% outside the arc, and 73.9% from the free-throw line.
- The Catamount are averaging 61.6 points per game, 35.5 rebounds per game, and 14.4 assists per game.
SERIES AGAINST THE CATAMOUNTS
- UAlbany leads the all-time series, 24-20.
- Current head coach, Colleen Mullen, owns an even 2-2 record against Vermont during her time with the Great Danes.
- Both games in the series were postponed during the 2020-21 season.
- In 2019-20, UAlbany won the first game of the season and the Catamounts won the second.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- After an 11-game win streak, Stony Brook leads the conference with an 11-1 record.
- UAlbany and Maine are tied for second with a 9-3 America East record after the Black Bears beat the Great Danes on Wednesday (Feb. 9).
- With an 8-4 conference record and a three-game win streak, Vermont is in fourth place.
- NJIT, in fifth place, is the final team with a winning conference record, 6-5.
- UMass Lowell, with a 4-5 record, holds a .444 win percentage within league play.
- UMBC has won two in a row to tie Hartford with two wins each.
- Binghamton and New Hampshire each own a 1-9 conference record.
- Following the close of the non-conference season Stony Brook (9-1), UAlbany (7-4), and Vermont (6-5) were the only three teams with a winning record. NJIT (5-6), Binghamton (4-6), UMass Lowell (3-6), Maine (3-7), New Hampshire (3-8), UMBC (1-9), and Hartford (0-11) each had losing records before the start of the conference season.

WHAT'S UP, PRESEASON
- The Great Dane women's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll. With six first-place votes and 78 total points, Stony Brook was voted to finish first with Maine just behind (74 points, three first-place votes).
- UAlbany added four new players to the roster for the 2021-22 season - Koi Sims, Lilly Phillips, Abby Ray, and Freja Werth
