Short Story: The University at Albany women's golf team took down MAAC and Albany foe Siena College in the annual Crosstown Challenge between the two schools. Amber Thornton led the way, shooting a 72 (+2) to finish with the best score of the afternoon, only her second time playing a full 18 holes at Wolferts Roost Country Club. UAlbany is now set to compete in the MAAC Championships next weekend at Walt Disney World.

Coach Colleen Cashman-McSween: "The Crosstown Challenge has always been a special event for us. Although times are very different and we aren't able to intermingle the teams, it's always fun to have the two Albany rivals match up against each other. Amber played a solid round having only payed a full 18 holes at Wolferts Roost one time since arriving on campus. Megan continues to put up solid numbers as well. I'm pleased with our team score of 302 and it definitely gives us a boost of confidence going into the MAAC Championship at Walt Disney World this week."

Key Notes:
  • Thornton finished with a 72 (+2) to lead the field. She shot -2 on the front before shooting +4 on the back nine.
  • Megan Henry, competing in her final home event as a Great Dane, finished in second among all competitors with a 74 (+4).
  • Pasqualina Tartaglione shot a 77 (+7) to finish third on the team and fourth overall. The junior shot +4 on the front nine before rebounding on the back at +3.
  • Madison Walker rounded out the top four scores for UAlbany, finishing at 79 (+9)
  • Katelin Richards, in the starting lineup for the Great Danes, finished with an 82 (+12).
  • Mariel Tee and Maddie Campos competed as individuals for UAlbany. Tee finished with a 78 (+8) and Campos finished with a 79 (+9).
Next: The Great Danes are Florida bound as the team is set to defend its back-to-back titles (2018, 2019) at this year's MAAC Championships. The event will once again be held at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista from April 23-25.
