Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Low Country Intercollegiate Invitational

Final Score: 14^th/16: 634 (+58)

Location: Low Country Intercollegiate Invitational – Hosted by Wofford College at the Bear Creek Golf Course on Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Short Story: The University at Albany women's golf team finished in 14^th place out of 16 teams at the Low Country Intercollegiate Invitational, hosted by Wofford College.

Coach Colleen Cashman-McSween : " Overall, it was definitely exciting to get back out there and compete. I think everyone would say they are a bit disappointed with the overall performance but it has been such a long time since we have played competitively, I think it's going to take a couple of tournaments to feel completely ready, especially considering we came straight out of winter for the first time as well. A lot of these teams have already been competing for over a month now. There were definitely some moments of brilliance. Our Juniors played solid golf and Amber [Thornton] had a strong showing in her first ever collegiate tournament. We were able to make our fair share of birdies, so I'm excited to practice a bit more and then head to our next event in Georgia where we will join a lot of these southern teams once again."

Key Notes Round 1:

Pasqualina Tartaglione led the way for the Great Danes on day one, shooting +5 on the day and collecting one birdie.
Madison Walker and Amber Thornton followed close behind, each shooting +6 on the day. Thornton led the team with four birdies.
Mariel Tee shot +10 on day one, Katelin Richards finished at +19

Key Notes Round 2:

Thornton led the way for the Great Danes on day two, shooting +2 with three birdies. She finished with a total score of 152 to lead the team.
Tartaglione and Walker followed, shooting +8 and +9, respectively. Tartaglione shot 157 on the weekend, Walker finished at 159.
Richards finished day two at +12 with an overall score of 175, Tee finished at +13 with an overall score of 167.
The Great Danes finished with a total score of 634, 58 strokes over par.
