BOSTON - The University at Albany women's basketball's
Lilly Phillips was named the America East Rookie of the Week, announced Monday.
A Greenwich, N.Y. native, Phillips was the starting point guard for both of the Great Danes' games this week - Bryant (Dec. 1) and Colgate (Dec. 5). Throughout the 2-0 week, Phillips led the team with five steals. The freshman made 55.6% of her shots from the field (5-9) for the second-highest shooting percentage this week. Finally, Phillips was the only freshman to score double-digit points against Bryant and Colgate combined.
This is Phillips' first career conference award.
Phillips' award marks the first of the season for the Great Danes.
UAlbany returns to action on Wednesday, December 8 to face Vanderbilt in Tennessee before hosting Siena at SEFCU Arena on December 12.
