Short Story: Sophomore Kyara Frames scored 23 points and redshirt-junior Amanda Kantzy added 11, but the UAlbany women's basketball team was tripped up 67-66 in a double overtime thriller at Lafayette on Saturday afternoon.

Recap: After scoring six straight points to force a second overtime, the UAlbany women's basketball team ran out of magic and was handed a 67-66 double overtime loss at Lafayette on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing by six with 1:43 remaining in a game that featured eight lead chances, senior Chyanna Canada drove the lane for am impressive, left-handed layup that gave the Great Danes the momentum they needed to knot the score at 59-59 and force a second overtime.

In the second period of overtime, Frames drained a three-pointer to create a one-point buffer, 66-65, with 27 seconds remaining. Lafayette would answer with a basket of their own on the very next possession, handing the ball back to UAlbany with 18 seconds on the clock. The Great Danes worked to get a pair of shots off, but neither would fall as the home team secured the 67-66 victory.

Led by Frame's game-high 23 points, the Great Danes scored a season-best 66 points in the loss. As a team, UAlbany shot 44.0 percent (22-50) from the floor in the outing. Senior Heather Forster boasted a career-high 14 boards and three blocks.

The Great Danes controlled the contest through the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 16-5 in the second frame. UAlbany's lead was largely a result of dominating the glass, out rebounding the Lafayette 10-4.

For just the second time all season, the Great Danes held an advantage at the half, 30-20.

With a 45-34 advantage after three quarters, the visitors saw the Leopards start to chip away with a 9-2 run to pull with four, 47-43, at 3:52. A three pointer by junior Khepera Stokes would make it a three-possession game, but Lafayette would score six straight to lock the score 53-53 and force overtime.

Next Up: The Great Danes return to the SEFCU Arena for their final two games of December. UAlbany welcomes Central Connecticut State on Wednesday, Dec. 5 (7 p.m.), before hosting rival Marist on December 8 at 2 p.m.
