Albany, N.Y. - Ebone Henry and Julie Forster both recorded double-doubles to lead UAlbany to a 65-47 win over Vermont in America East Conference women's basketball action on Thursday evening at SEFCU Arena. The Great Danes improve to 12-8 on the season, and 6-1 in league play.

UAlbany got the first two points of the game from Sarah Royals at the free throw line less than two minutes into the game, and never relinquished the lead. Vermont was able to keep the score close through the early goings of the first half, cutting the score to two, 10-8, on a 3-pointer by Kayla Burchill, but a 13-3 run by the Great Danes built up a 12-point advantage, 23-11, with 8:38 left to play. A trey from Lindsey Lowrie was followed by two Megan Craig jumpers in the paint, sandwiched around a layup by Tabitha Makopond. Royals capped off the run with a layup to put UAlbany up by 12.

Vermont ended the UAlbany rally with a layup by Shanai Heber, but the Great Danes scored the game's next five points to keep a 15-point lead over the Catamounts. Henry nailed one of her two 3-pointers in the game to give UAlbany its largest lead of the game, 31-15, with 4:40 left to play. Vermont rallied before the end of the first half to cut the lead to eight twice before the break, getting two baskets by Heber with under a minute and a half to play. However, UAlbany responded both times, jetting a jumper by Forster with under a minute on the clock and a layup by Cassandra Callaway with two ticks remaining to hold onto a 10-point lead, 35-25, heading to the locker room.

Tierra Shumpert scored the first points of the second half for Vermont, but the Great Danes would not fold, and got ahead by 13, 42-29, on a conventional 3-point play by Callaway at the 15:27 mark. The Catamounts cut the UAlbany lead to single digits several times throughout the second half, getting as close as six, 49-43, on a layup by Niki Taylor at 7:42. However, after a bucket by Heber at 5:14 that pulled Vermont within seven, UAlbany held the Catamounts scoreless for almost the remainder of the game. A 13-0 run, that included an 11-of-12 performance from the free throw line for the Great Danes, put UAlbany up by 20, 65-45, with 31 seconds left to play. Vermont's Annie Wheeler nailed the final basket of the game with 18 ticks on the clock to set the final score.

Burchill led Vermont (8-12, AE 2-5) with 13 points, while Taylor and Heber finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Both Taylor and Heber also grabbed eight rebounds for the Catamounts, who shot 30.0 percent (18-60) from the floor in the contest.

Forster scored a game-high 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Henry filled the boxscore with 12 points, 10 boards, five assists, three steals and two blocks in 36 minutes of action. Callaway, playing in her first game since being sidelined with a hand injury at the end of December, chipped in with 12 points. As a team, UAlbany went 24-of-31 from the charity stripe, and out-rebounded the Catamounts, 53-35.
