Former UAlbany Basketball Star Jason Siggers Signs to Play Professionally in Denmark

Albany, N.Y. ? Former University at Albany basketball player Jason Siggers, who played on two America East Conference championship teams, recently signed to play professionally in Denmark.  Siggers, a 6-foot-4, 195-pound swingman from Dallas, Texas, is a member of the Bakken Bears, a first division team.  Bakken formed in 1962 and plays in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark with a population of 280,000.  The Bears have been crowned Danish League champions in three of the last four years.

Siggers, a first-team All-America East Conference selection, averaged 13.9 points and 3.9 rebounds as a senior, plus made 46 three-point field goals.  He had 14 points, including 11 in the second half, in the Great Danes' 60-59 victory over Vermont in the 2007 conference championship final.  He was named to the America East all-championship squad.  He tallied a career-high 34 points, the third-highest single-game total in the program's Division I history, against Vermont in the regular season.  He also had a memorable outing in a 59-58 upset at Utah, when he struck for 22 points by canning six three-pointers.

Siggers came off the bench in his first season with the UAlbany program in 2005-06 after transferring from New Mexico Junior College.  He averaged 5.0 points in 32 games as the Great Danes won the conference title en route to the men's basketball team's first-ever NCAA Division I appearance.
