Albany, N.Y. - Anna Edelman recorded a 6-3, 6-0 win over Susan Ma at No. 1 singles and also teamed up with Yagmur Gone for a doubles win to lead Binghamton to a 7-0 sweep of UAlbany in America East Conference tennis action on Friday afternoon at the UAlbany Bubble.
Ma, along with teammate Aubrey Brooks, fell to Edelman and Gone, 8-3, at the top doubles spot. The Bearcats swept the other two doubles matches as well to earn the point. Jillian Santos and Yulia Smirnova defeated Melissa Coughlin and Laine Mackey, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles, while Marina Bykovskaya and Emma Leibowicz posted an 8-2 win over Rachel Drake and Sarah Iannone in the third match.
In singles action, Santos recorded a 6-3, 6-4 win over Mackey at the No. 2 position, while Smirnova defeated Brooks, 6-2, 6-4, in the third spot. Iannone fell to Bykovskaya, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, while Leibowicz was victorious over Coughlin, 6-0, 6-0. Jennifer Fridman completed the sweep of the Great Danes with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Drake at No. 6 singles.
UAlbany will return to action on Saturday against Sacred Heart at 1 p.m.
