Orlando, Fla. - Tati Soldatova defeated Livia Gherman at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Iva Jaresova at the top doubles spot to lead Jacksonville to a 7-0 sweep of UAlbany on Wednesday afternoon.
Soldatova posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Gherman in singles action, while pairing up with Jaresova for an 8-6 win over Gherman and Laine Mackey in doubles play. Fer Carrero and Eve Castaing defeated Susan Ma and Caitlin Crowley, 8-1, at second doubles, while Ronnie Spencer and Sara Londono sealed up the doubles point for the Dolphins with an 8-4 victory over Aubrey Brooks and Sarah Iannone.
Mackey fell to Castaing, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Ma took Jaresova to three sets, winning the first, 5-7, before falling, 6-4, 10-5, at third singles. Virginia Iwinski defeated Crowley, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 4 position, while Spencer posted a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Brooks at fifth singles. Carrero sealed up the sweep for Jacksonville with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles over Iannone.
The Great Danes will continue their spring break trip in Florida on Thursday, taking on Missouri-Kansas City at 12 p.m.
