SHORT STORY: The Great Danes fought hard after being down 2-0, but the Retrievers sealed the match, Friday afternoon.

- Junior outside hitter Pinar Erol led the team in kills with 21.
- Junior libero Kasia Barletta earned a team-high 14 digs, followed by junior defensive specialist Kiki Provatas with 12.
- Senior middle blocker Campbell Robinson and freshman setter Addy Bianchini each put up a team-high seven blocks. Bianchini also put up 37 assists.
- Barletta and Bianchini each contributed two service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- To open set one, UMBC started off with a 6-1 scoring run for the advantage.
- A solo block by Mina Benucci began to close the score gap between UAlbany and UMBC, but the Retrievers held the lead, 15-7.
- UMBC started the second half with a 4-1 point run, which led to the Retrievers taking the first set, 25-14.
- The Great Danes responded back to open set two scoring three consecutive points, but the Retrievers took the lead in the first half, 15-10.
- UAlbany didn't back down as a kill by Pinar Erol started a seven-point scoring run and brought the Great Danes within one-point.
- UAlbany took the lead 22-21, but UMBC ultimately denied the Great Danes' comeback and won set two.
- The Great Danes jumped out to a 6-2 run to start the third set, and maintained the advantage in the first half, 15-11.
- A service ace from Addy Bianchini increased the lead for UAlbany, 17-11.
- The Retrievers tried to cut the deficit with a 4-1 run, but a kill from Nia Gibson sealed the set win for the Great Danes, 25-19.
- UAlbany and UMBC opened set four exchanging points, but the Great Danes climbed into the lead, 15-11.
- UAlbany continued to advance their lead earning five consecutive points to start the second half, 21-13, started by a kill from Addy Bianchini.
- With a commanding 25-16 set win, the Great Danes tied the match.
- Each team started out set five with a fire as UMBC and Ualbany went back-and-fourth, but the Retrievers held the lead at 9-6.
- UMBC held their advantage and sealed the match with a 15-8 set-five win.
