BOSTON - University at Albany freshman forward Yuta Kimata has been named the America East Men's Soccer Week 5 Rookie of the Week following his performance in the Great Danes' 1-0 victory over Central Connecticut State on Sunday.
 
Kimata delivered the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Ivar Gissurarson to give UAlbany a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Kimata led the Great Danes with five shots and three shots on goal.
 
The goal marked Kimata's third of the season and second match-winning goal, while his three shots on goal against CCSU were a season high. Kimata has now recorded eight points through seven games, ranking second on the team behind Gissurarson's 10 points. In America East play, Kimata is tied for first with Gissurarson with two game-winning goals, tied for third in goals, and tied for fifth in points.
 
The award marks the second America East Rookie of the Week honor of Kimata's career. He previously earned the conference's Rookie of the Week award on Aug. 31 after scoring against Colgate.
 
UAlbany returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26, as the Great Danes open America East play against New Hampshire at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
