Short Story: The University at Albany football team dominated the LIU Sharks on the road on Saturday afternoon by a score of 35-13. The win is the first on the road for the Great Danes this season, and moves the team to 2-0 when facing FCS opponents.
Key Stat Lines
- Kai Colón went 16-23 for 207 yards and three touchdowns.
- Aidan Semo went 5-6 for 30 yards and a score. He added 10 yards and another score on the ground.
- Rahshan La Mons led the running backs with 57 yards on 11 attempts. Joey Koch followed with 36 yards on 10 rushes, adding 43 yards on receptions with a score.
- La Mons also recorded 64 yards on punt returns, including one return for 48 yards.
- The receiving corps was led by Jordan Rae (51 yards, TD) and BJ Norman (45 yards, TD).
- Tight end Mitchell Viviano recorded one reception, a seven-yard touchdown.

How it Happened:
- The Great Danes were the first to strike, converting on their first offensive drive of the day. Aidan Semo took the snap to find Mitchell Viviano in the end zone to make it 7-0. The drive spanned nine plays and covered 64 yards.
- The next offensive position made it 14-0 in favor of UAlbany, with the Great Danes driving 54 yards on nine plays for the score. Kai Colón threw a pass outside to Joey Koch, who ran around the outside for three yards and the score.
- The Sharks attempted a 40-yard field goal early in the second quarter, but missed short and left.
- The Great Danes fell victim to a fumble on the ensuing drive, giving the ball back to the Sharks at midfield.
- The Sharks broke through following the two-minute warning to make it 14-7. Luca Stanzani found Joseph Young across the middle for the score.
- UAlbany came out of the locker room hot to start the second half. Less than five minutes in, Colón found BJ Norman on a screen, which he took 20 yards for the score to make it 21-7.
- Colón once again found his target near the end of the quarter, connecting with Jordan Rae on a 33 yard touchdown. The score pushed the lead to 28-7.
- On the next LIU possession, the Sharks fumbled the ball in the red zone – with the UAlbany defense jumping on top. Rich Benenge was credited with the recovery.
- UAlbany made quick work of the turnover, having to go just five yards. Aidan Semo punched it in two plays later on a quarterback draw, making it 35-7.
- Midway through the fourth, the Great Danes attempted a 46-yard field goal, but missed.
- The Sharks scored once more with 2:28 remaining on a nine-yard rush from Nathan Gray. The extra point was missed, making the final score 35-13.
