BOSTON – Freshman attacker
Mya Carroll has been named America East Rookie of the Week after a strong two-game stretch that helped UAlbany women's lacrosse earn a pair of victories, including the team's conference opener.
Â
This is Carroll's third America East Rookie of the Week honor, and her second in a row.
Â
This past week Carroll totaled five points on four goals and one assist across two games, while also contributing three draw controls and two ground balls.
Â
The freshman highlighted the week with a career-high four goals in UAlbany's 16-9 America East victory at New Hampshire, scoring on four of her five shots. Carroll opened the scoring early, recording three first-quarter goals to help the Great Danes jump out to a commanding lead. She also converted two of her four goals coming off free-position opportunities in the win.
Â
Earlier in the week, Carroll added an assist, a ground ball, and a draw control in UAlbany's 16-4 victory over Wagner.
Â
Across the two games, Carroll finished with nine shots, including six on goal, continuing to establish herself as an emerging contributor in UAlbany's attack.
