BOSTON – University at Albany senior goalkeeper
Grace Cincebox and freshman midfielder
Mya Carroll have received weekly awards, the America East announced on Monday. Cincebox was named Goalkeeper of the Week, while Carroll earned Rookie of the Week honors following the Great Danes' opening split against Holy Cross and No.18 Stony Brook.
Cincebox, a senior from Pittsford, N.Y., anchored the Great Danes' defense through 120 minutes over the two-game span. In the season-opening 9-6 victory over Holy Cross, she helped limit the Crusaders to just six goals. Throughout the week, the junior goalkeeper recorded 19 saves, including a high of 11 against Holy Cross. Cincebox currently holds a .475 save percentage while collecting a team high five ground balls.
Freshman Carroll, out of Fulton, N.Y., made an immediate impact in her first week of collegiate competition, totaling four points in her first two games. The freshman scored twice, both off free-position goals, and added two assists to boost UAlbany's offense. Carroll also added three draw controls and two ground balls, while maintaining a perfect 1.000 shot-on-goal percentage.
UP NEXT: The Great Danes return to John Fallon Field on Saturday, February 21, where they'll face the currently ranked No.25 Harvard Crimson, with the first draw scheduled for 12:00 PM.
