BOSTON - The University at Albany track and field's Frankie Gonzalez was named the America East Field Athlete of the Week, as announced Tuesday.
 
A senior from the throwing squad, Gonzalez threw a personal record in the shot put to increase his mark in the program's historical top 10. After throwing a PR in the first meet of the season, Gonzalez is now ranked fourth in the America East and 20th in the Northeast with a second PR - 16.03m (52-7.25).
 
Gonzalez' award marks the second award this season for the track and field teams, and the first for the men.
 
The track and field teams will return to action on January 24 at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational.
