Albany, N.Y. – The University at Albany women's golf program is adding international strength to its roster with the arrivals of Jasmine Furstenburg (George, Western Cape, South Africa) and Diane Becassis (Narbonne, France) ahead of the 2025 season.
Furstenburg enters as the program's first-ever golfer from South Africa and its first left-handed player. She brings a +3 handicap, a tournament low score of 68, and has reached as high as No. 747 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
"Jasmine is coming to us as our first player ever from the huge wealth of golf talent in South Africa," said head coach Colleen Cashman. "She is actually our first ever lefty golfer who brings plenty of experience, dedication and optimism to the team right out of the gate. I'm excited to welcome Jasmine to upstate N.Y. and I know that she will be prepared for the high level of competition that she will face and will help elevate our team in so many ways as well."
Becassis becomes the second player from France to join the Great Danes. With a +2 handicap, a tournament low score of 69, and a career-best World Amateur Golf Ranking of No. 1521, she arrives at UAlbany with the foundation to make an immediate impact.
"Diane is very competitive, focused and goal-oriented, and has a desire to turn professional after college," Cashman said. "She has very sound fundamentals and I'm looking forward to her making an immediate impact on the team this Fall and for many seasons to come."
The additions of Furstenburg and Becassis continue UAlbany's tradition of building a diverse and competitive roster, strengthening the team as it prepares for the upcoming campaign.
