LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Three members of the University at Albany women's golf team have collected All-MAAC honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), the league announced Wednesday morning. Freshman golfer
Madison Kuratani was selected to the All-MAAC First Team while teammates
Lucia Esteban and
Mia Cepeda were selected to the All-MAAC Second Team. In addition, Esteban and
Nicole Criscone earned spots on the MAAC's All-Academic Team.
Kuratani has been a staple for UAlbany in the spring. The rookie has picked up two MAAC Golfer of the Week awards this season, leading the team in both the Bama Beach Bash Invitational and the Rutgers Invitational. In Alabama, Kuratani finished in 14
th place out of over 60 golfers, shooting +12 overall following three consecutive rounds of +4. In New Jersey, she paced the Great Danes with a fifth-place finish after posting rounds of +7, +5, and even to finish at +12 overall – lower than any other MAAC golfer in the field.
Esteban started her spring with a 64
th place finish at the Babs Steffens Invitational. She followed it up with a 58
th place finish (+35) in Alabama and a 54
th place finish (+21) at the Annika 'More Than Golf' Invitational in South Carolina. Esteban rounded her spring season out by shooting +14 for a strong 12
th place finish at the Rutgers Invitational, just behind Kuratani.
Cepeda finished second on the team, 42
nd overall, to start the spring at the Babs Steffens Invitational. She posted a score of +34, good for fourth on the team and 57
th overall, in Alabama before rallying for a 51
st place finish, second on the team, in South Carolina. She most recently shot a +17 at the Rutgers Invitational, finishing third on the team and 20
th overall in a field full of MAAC golfers.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Esteban and Criscone accounted for two of 33 total golfers named to the MAAC's 2025 Women's Golf All-Academic Team.
The 2025 MAAC Men's & Women's Golf Championships return to Disney's Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. from April 17-29. The 2025 championships will mark the 14
