Women’s Lacrosse Set to Play on the Road Before Senior Day on Saturday

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany women's lacrosse program is set to hit the road on Wednesday, April 16 to face Le Moyne with the first draw set for 3 pm. They will then move on to host UMBC on Saturday, April 19 at John Fallon Field with the first draw set for noon. Saturday's game will be the UAlbany's Senior Day game.

Scouting Le Moyne 
The Dolphins are currently 4-10, defeating Howard University 19-5 on Saturday, April 12. As a team, Le Moyne has scored 125 goals with 64 assists from 310 shots and 198 shots on goal for a .729 shots-on-goal percentage. 22 goals came off free positions, while 12 came from a woman- up. The Dolphins went 22-51 on free-position attempts. Le Moyne recorded 222 ground balls, 232 turnovers and 90 caused turnovers with 131 draw-control wins and 209-267 on clear attempts.
Bella Sampo leads Le Moyne with 26 points from 13 goals and 13 assists while recording 12 ground balls. Maddi Barney follows close behind with 21 points from 16 goals and five assists while recording 11 ground balls. Amanda Manfredi has spent the most time on net for the Dolphins with 745:33 minutes, starting in every game this season.

April 23, 2024, | UAlbany defeated the Dolphins 13-7, with three players recording hat tricks. Emma Weaver, Allie Maloney, and Megan Dineen each scored three goals. Ava Poupard scored twice. Defensively, Mackenzie Salentre wins five ground balls and forces four turnovers and Emma Torkoff won five ground balls and forced three turnovers. Haley Phalines won a total of eight draws against the Dolphins. UAlbany outshot Le Moyne 36-18.

Scouting UMBC 
The Retrievers are currently 11-2, defeating the University of Akron 22-8 on Friday, April 11. As a team, UMBC has scored 207 goals with 90 assists from 463 shots and 306 shots on goal for a .741 shots-on-goal percentage. 37 goals came off free positions, while 33 came from a woman- up. The Retrievers went 37-66 on free-position attempts. UMBC has also recorded 232 ground balls, 163 turnovers, and 111 caused turnovers with 222 draw control wins and is 194-210 on clear attempts.

Emily Knapp leads the Retrievers with 57 points from 40 goals and 17 assists while recording 21 ground balls. Katana Nelson records 52 points from 50 goals and two assists. Lizzie Bateman leads UMBC with 27 assists. Isabella Fontana has spent the most time on net with 643:56 minutes where she records a .390 save percentage.

April 6, 2024, | UAlbany fell short to UMBC for a final score of 12-11. During this matchup, Katie Pascale scored her 300th career point on an unassisted goal with 3:43 left in the second quarter. She finished with six points on four goals and two assists, with three ground balls, three caused turnovers and one draw control. Kloey Roos and Grace McCauley each scored twice. Haley Phalines recorded six draws and Grace Cincebox recorded nine saves against the Retrievers. UAlbany outdrew UMBC 16-9, and UMBC outshot UAlbany 31-28.

Last Time Out
April 12, 2025 | The University at Albany women's lacrosse program fell short to Bryant on the road 10-9. Ava Poupard and Dylana Williams led the Great Danes with four points from two goals and two assists each. Mikaela Mooney tallied three points from two goals and one assist. Emma Torkoff picked up a team-high three ground balls, while Gracie McCauley led UAlbany with five caused turnovers and an additional two ground balls. Paisley Cook won a total of five draw controls to lead UAlbany. Grace Cincebox tallied five saves for a .333 save percentage. UAlbany recorded 18 shots on goal in 29 shots and picked up 12 ground balls with nine caused turnovers and 20 total turnovers with 13 draw-control wins. Bryant tallied 15 shots on goal with 31 shots, for 15 ground balls, 18 turnovers, and 10 caused turnovers with 10 draw control wins.

Schedule Strength
Once again, the Great Danes will boast one of the toughest schedules in the country. Highlighted by the presence of two of four 2024 Final Four teams, including both national champion Boston College and Opening the season against Semi-Finalist Syracuse, UAlbany's 2025 schedule features four teams that earned berths into the 2024 NCAA The tournament, three 2024 conference champions, and three teams ranked in the final media poll of 2024. Four future opponents ranked in the top 25 of the 2025 Inside Lacrosse preseason poll.
