Scouting New Hampshire
The Wildcats come into Wednesday's matchup with an 8-10 overall record, going 3-3 in conference play. UNH started conference play with a convincing win over UAlbany before falling on the road to Binghamton. The Wildcats responded with two wins against powerhouse Vermont and Maine before dropping the last two outings against Bryant and on the road against UMBC.
  • Clarence Daniels leads the team in scoring with 15.3 points per game, a mark that is good for fourth in the entire conference. Daniels is shooting 44.1% from the field and 39.6% from beyond the arc. He has surpassed the 30-point mark twice this season and has dropped 25 (Bryant) and 18 (UMBC) in his last two outings. • Nick Johnson (13.5) and Kyree Brown (11.1) follow Daniels as UNH players who average double figures. Johnson shoots 39.7% from the floor, Brown shoots 38.2%.

UNH jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, establishing a 25-point lead by the half. UAlbany was unable to find a rhythm on the offensive side, while the Wildcats shot over 40% from beyond the arc to run up the score.

#AEHoops Notes (1.23.23)
Nearly at the midway point of #AEHoops play, every team has at least one win and six sit at .500 or better.
  • UMass Lowell posted an impressive week, beating both UMBC and Bryant.
  • The River Hawks sit atop the league standings at 5-2.
  • UML has already surpassed the program's Division I record for wins in a season with 17.
  • Vermont won both of its games last week, defeating Maine and NJIT.
  • The Catamounts are tied for second place in the standings along with Binghamton and UMBC.
Conference positioning will again prove key for the Jersey Mikes #AEPlayoffs. Every round of the Jersey Mikes #AEPlayoffs will take place on the higher seed's home court and earning home court advantage will prove crucial once again.

The league champion will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, where America East teams have won nine games all-time, including UMBC's historic upset of Virginia in 2018.

Coming off winning it's league-best ninth men's basketball title, Vermont is the favorite in the 2022-23 America East Men's Basketball preseason poll. The Catamounts, who also claimed their league-record sixth-straight regular-season title last season, edged out league newcomer Bryant atop the poll. Vermont and Bryant combined to claim four of the six preseason All-Conference team members, which was also unveiled with the poll.

Binghamton's Jacob Falko is the lone returning first-team All-America East team member from last season on the preseason All-League squad. He is joined by UMass Lowell's Max Brooks along with Bryant's Charles Pride, a first-team all-NEC choice last year, and Earl Timberlake, as well as Vermont's Dylan Penn and Finn Sullivan.
