Short Story: The first day of America East indoor championships is highlighted by Ludith Campos' championship meet record in victory in the women's weight throw.
 
Track Events
  • Antwone Messado qualified first in the men's 60m hurdles in a personal-best 8.07.  Easton Reagan qualified third in 8.34, equaling his personal-best.
  • Olivia Nelson Chevry qualified second in the women's 60m hurdles in a personal-best 8.95.  Dee Denis qualified third in a personal-best 8.96.
  • Jan Michael Gutierrez Almedina qualified first in the men's 400m in 47.58, more than half a second faster than the second qualifier.  Nicardo Blake qualified third in a personal-best 48.32, and Yourry Tapande-Ngombe qualified fourth in 48.62.
  • Denis qualified sixth in the women's 400m in a personal-best 56.66.
  • Reagan qualified third in the men's 500m in 1:05.67.  Raiden Guialdo qualified fourth in a personal-best 1:05.72.
  • Emily Brown qualified fifth in the women's 500m in a personal-best 1:15.24.  Alicia Grady qualified eighth in 1:17.75.
  • Shak Williams qualified second in the men's 60m in 6.84.  Lucas Casab qualified fourth in a personal-best 6.90, followed by Travis Williams in sixth in 6.96, and Garry Munro in seventh in a personal-best 6.97.
  • The Great Danes qualified six to the final of the women's 60m.  Dominique Clarke qualified first in a personal-best 7.48, followed by Brynley McDermott in a personal-best 7.58, Imani Gray in third in 7.63, Adaliz Hunt in fourth in a personal-best 7.63, Rori Lowe in fifth in a personal-best 7.68, and Marika Garner in eighth in a personal-best 7.85.
  • Gutierrez Almedina qualified second in the men's 200m in 21.47.  Tapande-Ngombe qualified fourth in a personal-best 21.71, followed by Blake in fifth in 21.73, S. Williams in seventh in a personal-best 21.86, and Munro in eighth in a personal-best 21.86.
  • Lowe qualified second in the women's 200m in a personal-best 24.58.  Clarke qualified fourth in 24.59, followed by Gray in fifth in an indoor-best 24.73, and McDermott in seventh in a personal-best 25.03.
  • The women's distance medley relay team of Lelja Hrelja (3:56.03), Tyler Howard (59.24), Kaitlyn Butterfield (2:25.78), and Mercedes Planavsky (5:27.66) placed seventh in 12:48.69.
Field Events
  • Through four events of the men's heptathlon, Peter Meehan is currently sixth with 2,546 points, followed by Tyler Price in eight with 2,337 points, Terrance Blatche in ninth with 2,279 points, and Tino Mancabelli in 10th with 1,944 points.
  • Alex Payne placed third in the women's pentathlon, scoring a personal-best 3,335 points.  Steph Hyde placed fourth with 3,182 points.
  • Brian Nicholson placed sixth in the men's weight throw in 52-00.50.
  • Samantha Martinez placed sixth in the women's pole vault, clearing 10-11.75.
  • Louie Gordon placed second in the men's long jump in an indoor-best 23-10.75.  Robert Blue placed third in an indoor-best 23-08.25, followed by Marcus McFadden in fifth in a personal-best 23-05.50, and Daniel Cephus in eighth in a personal-best 22-09.00.
  • Charlie Hatzmann placed fourth in the men's pole vault, clearing 14-09.00 and equaling his personal-best. Jason McDonough placed seventh, clearing a personal-best 14-03.25.
  • Ludith Campos won the women's weight throw in a personal-best 67-11.50.  Shelby Bigsby placed second in a personal-best 61-08.25, Shiana Galette-Rowe placed fourth in 58-04.50, and Lynne Gbadamosi placed seventh in 55-02.25.
  • Efe Omokeni placed eighth in the women's long jump in 17-08.00.
Meet Notes
  • Campos' mark in the weight throw was a personal best by nearly five feet, and broke the UAlbany program record and America East Championship meet record of 65-08.75 set in xx by Chinwe Igwe.  Campos also defended her title in the event from the 2020 indoor championship meet.
  • Bigsby is the fifth woman in program history to record a mark over 60' in the weight throw.  Galette-Rowe became the fourth woman to do so earlier this season.
  • In the women's 60m hurdles, both Nelson Chevry and Denis broke nine seconds for the first time in their careers.
  • Five Great Danes broke seven seconds in the men's 60m, with Rashad Hames just missing out on qualifying for finals, finishing ninth in 6.98.  Munro broke seven seconds for the first time in his career.
  • In the women's 60m, Gray and Hunt were separated by three one-thousandths of a second.  Garner qualified eighth by edging out UMBC's Za'Kayza Parsons by four one-thousandths of a second.
  • Clarke broke her own freshman record in the 60m, improving on her time of 7.55 from earlier this season.  She now ranks third in program history, behind Stephanie Osuji and Dayleen Santana Rodriguez, both of whom recorded times of 7.40.  Clarke is the third woman to run under 7.5 seconds in program history.
  • In the men's 200m, S. Williams and Munro were separated by one one-thousandth of a second.
  • Gordon's mark in the long jump equaled that of champion Jake Restivo from Binghamton, but his second-best jump was shorter than Restivo's, breaking the tie.
