The Great Danes open the 2022 campaign with two-straight games on the road, starting first at Cornell on February 19. The Big Red have not played since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the 2020 season, at which point Cornell had won its first five games of the season. Cornell opened that season against UAlbany, and secured further victories over High Point, Ohio State, and Penn State, rising to #2 in the national media poll.
Next, the Great Danes visit Drexel, renewing their rivalry with the Dragons after not playing in 2021 for the first time since the Division I era series started in 2003. The Dragons finished the 2021 season ranked #12 in the national media poll after finishing the season 10-3 and in the NCAA Tournament First Round.
The Great Danes host their home opener on March 2 against Crosstown Rival Siena, playing the Saints for the first time since 2016. Saints' head coach Liam Gleason, a former assistant coach of Scott Marr at UAlbany, enters his fourth season at the helm.
