UAlbany men's lacrosse returns to Casey Stadium this Saturday, following two weekends of travel where the Great Danes had a dominant outing against Drexel on February 21, but fell to UMass last weekend on February  28. Though they ultimately came up short as a team in their outing against UMass, the Great Danes helds the minutemen scoreless for the first eight minutes of the game and went in to halftime with a tied score. Additionally, certain individuals did find some success. Brady Quill and Matthew Pettis each recorded their first goals as Great Danes, and Austin Oppenheim went 15-25 at the X.

Hobart is UAlbany's next opponent on the schedule. The Statesmen enter Saturday's matchup 1-4 after winning their first contest of the season against Canisius then dropping their last four contests. Most recently Hobart lost to RMU 8-7 in a tight battle that ultimately went to overtime. The Statesmen's offense is currently led by sophomore Daniel Cano and first-year Gordon Bennett who have each found the back of the net six times so far this season. For Bennett, three of those goals were scored against reigning national champion's Cornell. That also counted as Bennett's first career hat-trick. Hobart and UAlbany are both looking for their second victory of the season to give them a boost as each of their respective conference matchups are rapidly approaching.

These two teams have met twice, once in 2024 and once in 2025. Both times the Great Danes have come away with the win. In their matchup last season, UAlbany scored 17 goals, nine of which were courtesy of Ryan Doherty. Doherty's nine goals tied the program's single-game goals record, which is shared with Lyle and Miles Thompson. Koleton Marquis' also hit a career milestone with his first hat trick as a Great Dane coming against the Statesmen. Saturday will be Hobart's second visit to Casey Stadium, where UAlbany will look to secure momentum going into a big week. The team will travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown on Tuesday, before returning home for their first America East conference matchup against Bryant on Saturday.
