Short Story: After holding steady through the first 30 minutes, the UAlbany women's lacrosse team fell behind the top-ranked Boston College Eagles to fall by a final score of 17-9 despite seeing Great Danes score multiple goals.

We had some great stops by Georgia and our defense which helped carry that energy and momentum into the offensive end. I'm really proud of the team's overall effort and for players stepping up today. We'll use this as a learning experience as we head into conference play this weekend.”

Facing off against the #1 team in the country in Boston College to kick off a season-long four-game road, trip, the University at Albany women's lacrosse team held tough through the first half before the top-ranked Eagles pulled away in the second to win 17-9 and drop the Great Danes back to .500 on the season.
Boston College got on the board almost immediately, scoring just 32 seconds into the game. UAlbany responded a few minutes later, scoring two goals in less than one minute to go up 2-1 with 23:27 remaining.
The Eagles rolled off the next four goals over the ensuing six minutes of play to take a 5-2 lead. Hailey Carroll stopped Boston College's run, finding the back of the net with 13:25 remaining in the first. The Eagles scored each of the next two, 40 seconds apart, before trading goals with UAlbany to end the half with a narrow 8-5 lead.
Boston College dominated the offensive tempo, outshooting UAlbany by a margin of 25-12. Further, the Eagles, who lead the nation in draw controls, outdrew UAlbany 11-3 over the first 30 minutes. Despite the stats disparity, UAlbany had held tough, weathering the 4-0 Eagles' run to keep the game close at the break. Kyla Zapolski and Hannah Newman had each scored twice, while Sam Tortora had recorded two assists.
The Eagles scored the first two goals of the second half to go up 10-5 with 26:46 remaining. Carroll scored her second goal to keep the Danes' deficit at four eight minutes later. After one goal apiece for each team following Carroll's score, Boston College started to exert control of the game, scoring each of the next three to take a 14-7 lead with 9:25 remaining.
Madison Conway ended the Eagles' 3-0 run with a goal, set up by Tortora, with 7:59 remaining, but any hope of a comeback attempt was squashed when Boston College scored just 90 seconds later, and again 90 seconds after that to go up 16-8 with 4:01 remaining. Conway scored once more for UAlbany with 1:00 to go, but the Eagles found the back of the net one final time with 16 seconds left to make the final score 17-9.
Though the Eagles continued to hold a second-half lead in each category, both shots and draw controls fell more evenly after halftime, with the Eagles earning a 19-13 and 8-6 advantage, respectively. Four Great Danes, Conway, Zapolski, Newman, and Carroll, each scored twice, and Tortora finished with five assists. In goal, Georgia Schneidereith recorded 12 saves. On the other side, five Eagles had multiple-goal games, led by Sam Apuzzo, who led all scorers with four.
