Despite a hat trick from freshman Kendra Harbinger, the University at Albany women's lacrosse team lost to Bryant, 16-6, on Saturday in Providence, R.I.
Facing the reigning Northeast Conference champions, the Great Danes also got goals from Madison Conway, Kaylee Rickert and Emma Powlin, who leads the team with seven for the season.
UAlbany was playing its third consecutive road game to start the season before returning home for Wednesday's game against Dartmouth at Casey Stadium.
After falling behind 2-0, Harbinger scored twice for UAlbany to tie the game. Her third goal, with 14:47 left in the first half, narrowed Bryant's lead to 5-3.
Harbinger, from Clifton Park, N.Y., now has five goals in three games to start her collegiate career.
Powlin pulled the Great Danes within a goal, 5-4, before Bryant's run of eight straight stretched the lead to 13-4 with 15:55 to play.
Rickert and Conway added second half goals for UAlbany.
