Antelmi Scores Four Goals In Career Game To Lift UAlbany Over Siena, 12-10

Loudonville, N.Y. - Jess Antelmi recorded a career-best four goals and racked up three assists to lead No. 18 UAlbany over crosstown foe Siena College by a score of  12-10 Wednesday afternoon at the Saints home opener.

Antelmi scored UAlbany's two of three goals to start the second half to regain the lead that was not contested again en route to the 12-10 victory. The Great Danes outscored Siena (0-5) 5-2 in the second stanza.

The Great Danes score the first two goals of the second half to regain the lead at 9-8. Antelmi scored her third and fourth goals of the game in the first 15 minutes of the half. Brianna Day tabbed her first goal on the season to give UAlbany its biggest lead of the game at 12-9 with 7:38 in the final stanza. Deirdre McQuillian picked up a hat trick for the Saints bringing the score to 12-10 UAlbany with under six minutes to play.

UAlbany (3-1) closed out the first half scoring with Ariana Parker's third goal in the game as just eleven seconds remained to close Siena's lead to 8-7.

The Great Danes had a 3-1 lead with just under 20 minutes remaining in the first half before Siena went on a four-goal run to take their first lead of the game at 5-3 with 6:49 left in the half. UAlbany tied the game at 5 all before Siena finished the half with three goals to UAlbany's two.  Kristin McMillan tabbed a hat trick in the first half.

In goal, Anna Berman made eight saves for the Great Danes in the win. For the Saints, Kristin Concordia made 11 saves between the pipes in the losing effort.  

UAlbany controlled 14-of-24 draws and held a 27-23 shot advantage. The Great Danes converted 3-of-4 free position opportunities, two of which were scored by Parker. Rachael Burek collected six draw controls, while Parker had a team-high three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Day also tabbed two ground balls and two caused turnovers, both of which are a single-game career-best for the senior.

The Great Danes will complete the four-game road trip this Saturday as they travel to Fairfax, Virginia for a 1:00 p.m. draw against George Mason.
