Ariana Parker Nets Game-Winner in Unbeaten UAlbany's 12-11 Win Against Boston U.

Boston, Mass. - Freshman Ariana Parker scored five goals, all in the second half, and netted the game-winner with 10.4 seconds to play in leading unbeaten UAlbany to a 12-11 America East Conference victory over Boston University on Saturday, April 16. The Great Danes, one of three undefeated teams at the NCAA Division I level, won for the first time in the series at Nickerson Field.
UAlbany (12-0, AE 4-0) reversed a 9-8 deficit with back-to-back goals. Parker moved to the middle from the left and found the near side of the cage. After goalkeeper Anna Berman made a save on a low attempt, the Great Danes scored on their next possession when Jodi Battaglia hit the net from left of the crease off Taylor Frink's pass from the right.
Boston U. (6-7, AE 2-2) got the equalizer from Danielle Etrasco, before the Great Danes went back ahead as Battaglia finished off Persy Sample's right-to-left crossing pass. The Terriers forced the sixth tie of the contest at 11 apiece with 57.6 seconds remaining when a cutting Rachel Collins deposited Elizabeth Morse's pass from the left. The possession was set up when defender Brittany Carlin caused a turnover in BU's defensive end and Corcoran Downey came up with the ground ball.
After UAlbany's Rachael Burek won the subsequent draw, Parker was fouled on a drive from the left. She then sent a free-position low into the net by using a sidearm delivery. The Great Danes' Michelle Primomo collected the following draw and her team ran out the clock.
In the opening half, the Terriers scored 28 seconds apart to break a 1-1 deadlock. Hannah Frey connected on a bounce shot from the left after gathering in Etrasco's pass, before scoring again in a free-position situation. Etrasco added three goals to her scoring total, including her 39th of the season. The Great Danes later closed the gap to 4-3 when Nikki Branchini nailed a jump-shot, moving left to right.
Frey, who had four of her career-high six goals in the period, answered on Boston U.'s next offensive set by converting a centering pass from behind the cage into the right side. UAlbany's Frink drilled an eight-yard shot from the left with two seconds remaining in the half to bring her team within 5-4 at the break.
Battaglia tallied three goals for the Great Danes, who also won a one-goal decision last year in recording their win in the series after the defending America East champions had taken the first 11 meetings. Frink totaled for one goal and two assists. UAlbany is ranked No. 10 in the IWLCA coaches' poll and No. 7 by deBeer/Inside Lacrosse.
