Albany, N.Y.- UAlbany softball first baseman Charlise Castro will participate on the Puerto Rican National Softball Team to compete for the seventh World Cup of Softball Title. Castro and Team Puerto Rico will have their first matchup against Team USA on Thursday, June 28 at 7 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN 2.

Castro, a Saugerties, N.Y. native, had a very successful first season as a Great Dane, having won the America East Conference Triple Crown with a .461 batting average, 13 homeruns and 53 runs batted in. She won the America East Player of the Week three different times during the 2012 season. The first baseman was also named America East Player of the Year.

After Team Puerto Rico plays Team USA on Thursday, they are scheduled to face the Netherlands on Friday at 3 pm (ESPN3), Australia on Saturday at 9:30 pm (ESPN3) and finally Canada on Sunday at 6 pm (ESPN3).

The two teams with the best record, after group play, will face off in the championship match on Monday, July 1 at 9 pm on ESPN 2.
