BOSTON - University at Albany freshman forward Yuta Kimata has been named the America East Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, following his performance in the Great Danes' 3-0 victory over Colgate, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.

Kimata made an immediate impact against the Raiders, scoring the opening goal in the '45 just before halftime. After two Great Danes shots came within a span of five seconds, Kimata settled the ball, found his way through two Colgate defenders, and found the back of the net to break the deadlock and give UAlbany a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Kimata's goal would go on to be the match winner, and provided the spark for the Great Danes, who added two more goals in the second half to secure their first victory of the season and record a clean sheet.

The award marks the first America East weekly honor of Kimata's career and the first Rookie of the Week honor for the Great Danes this season.

UAlbany returns to action Friday, September 4, as the Great Danes travel to Dartmouth. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
