SHORT STORY: The University at Albany field hockey team took care of business against Wagner in its first game of the season, Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UAlbany was on the board first when Quinty Reumer netted the first goal of the season on an assist from Pilar Lorenzini to make it 1-0 less than four minutes into the game.
- The Great Danes added to the lead when Mathilda Prada got around a defender and found the back of the net with less than two and a half minutes left in the first to make it 2-0.
- To start the second quarter, Jette Kurz scored on an assist from Tatum Hickey at the 13:47 mark to make it 3-0.
- The third quarter proved to be a defensive stalemate, with neither team able to score to keep it at 3-0 heading into the final frame.
- Wagner struck first in the fourth quarter with a goal within the first two minutes to cut the lead to 3-1.
- UAlbany answered back when Kurz created a breakaway and ran over half of the length of the field towards the goal. Catching up to her, Victoria Derdoy accepted a pass from Kurz to dodge the netminder and score her first collegiate goal.
- The Seahawks took three back-to-back shots towards the end of the game, but the defense kept all three out of the goal, and the Great Danes walked away with a 4-1 win in the season opener.
