The Great Danes (6-2, 1-0 America East) are coming off a 2-0 week, defeating Wagner 16-4 before earning a 16-9 victory over New Hampshire in their conference opener. The win over UNH also marked Head Coach Katie Thomson’s 100th career victory.This week, the team will also recognize the Every Child Matters movement, bringing awareness to the atrocities faced by Indigenous children at residential schools in both Canada and the United States.
Ahead of Saturday’s matchup against UMass Lowell, UAlbany ranks first in the America East in draw control percentage (.701), shot percentage (.483), and win percentage (.750). Individually, Paisley Cook ranks fifth in the nation in free-position goals per game (1.00) and eighth in draw controls per game (10.38). Cook leads the team with 20 goals and ranks second with 29 points. Ravan Marsell leads the team in points with 34, tallying 14 goals and a team-high 20 assists. In net, Grace Cincebox (6-2) has anchored the defense with 63 saves while allowing 73 goals on 199 shots faced, giving her a .453 save percentage and a 10.27 goals-against average. She is currently on pace to record the lowest goals-against average of her career.
UMass Lowell (3-5) will play Central Michigan in Lowell, Mass., on Tuesday before opening conference play on Saturday. The River Hawks are led by Chloe Bowers, who has recorded 24 points on 23 goals and one assist. Macy Shultz leads the team with eight assists and has added seven goals for 15 points. Grace Lydon leads the team with six free-position goals, while Brienne Brezynski and Alex Kuhn share the team lead with 13 ground balls each. Madison Carter leads the River Hawks with 10 caused turnovers.
