ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany Women's Rowing team is excited to announce its 2025 fall schedule. With a strong returning core following the team's first season of competition, the Great Danes will race in five regattas across three states beginning in late September.
"We're thrilled to build on the foundation we laid last year and test ourselves against some of the best crews in the Northeast this fall," said Head Coach
Kim Chavers. "Every regatta on this schedule gives our athletes the opportunity to grow and compete, continuing to shape the identity of UAlbany rowing."
The fall season will open on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Mohawk Fall Classic on the Mohawk River in Schenectady, N.Y., marking the team's first opportunity to race close to home. The following week, UAlbany travels to the Connecticut River for the Head of the Riverfront in Hartford, Conn., set for Sunday, Oct. 5.
The competition intensifies on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Head of the Housatonic, hosted on the Housatonic River in Shelton, Conn. The event is a staple in the fall, drawing competitive collegiate crews from across the region.
The Great Danes will then look to head to Boston for one of the largest and most prestigious regattas in the world: the Head of the Charles*, held on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18–19, on the historic Charles River. This will be a major highlight of the fall season as the Great Danes face off in front of thousands of fans and competitors.
The fall campaign wraps up at the Head of the Fish, taking place Saturday, Oct. 25, on Fish Creek in Saratoga, N.Y., another popular and competitive event to close out the season just up the Northway from campus.
The program is also partnering with alumni of the UAlbany Crew Club to race alumni boats at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga. Alumni are invited to reconnect, race, and celebrate the program's legacy and future. For more information, contact Coach Chavers at
