ALBANY, N.Y. - The fall season is in full bloom as volleyball, field hockey, football, and cross country open their seasons this week. Men's soccer comes home for their first 2025 game in the Capital Region while field hockey will begin their 2025 slate at Alumni Turf on Friday.

The UAlbany men’s soccer team hosted UMass Lowell on October 13, 2021, at Casey Stadium in Albany, N.Y.

HOME OPENER

The UAlbany men’s soccer team will face Central Connecticut State on Thursday, August 28, at 6:30 PM at Casey Stadium. Rodrigo Hermelo leads the Great Danes after scoring the equalizer at FDU on August 21. Ethan Cook paces the field players with 90 minutes played, while goalkeeper Kodai Tsuzuki (0-0-1) recorded four saves against the Knights.

UAlbany holds a 1-0-1 all-time series lead over the Blue Devils. The teams’ last meeting ended in a 2-2 double-overtime draw on September 19, 2015. The Great Danes’ most recent win against CCSU came on September 18, 2011, at the Binghamton Classic in Vestal, New York, with a 2-0 result.

HOME OPENER

The UAlbany field hockey team is back for the 2025 season with nine newcomers on the 15-person team. Mara Küskes and Sophia Schoonmaker highlight the returners having been named America East Preseason All-Conference. Hofstra will head to the Capital Region to open their season at Alumni Turf. Teresa Karoff returns to the team for her senior season after leading the Pride in goals (five) and points (13) in 2024. 

The Great Danes hold the 12-1 lead in the teams' series. Most recently, UAlbany won a three-goal shutout at Hofstra in 2024. The 2024 contest was the latest in a three-game streak in which the Great Danes have not allowed a Pride goal.
