LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
- The Great Danes closed the season with two close one-run matchup against Binghamton, including a game-one eight-inning contest.
- Senior Caitlyn Frederick tallied three hits over the two games and sophomore Taylor Quinn had two hits and two RBI in game one.
- Redshirt-senior Kate Powers pitched eight innings allowing zero earned runs in game one.
GREAT DANE REWIND
- UAlbany ended the regular season with a 19-24 overall record and a 9-8 conference record.
- After four weekends of tournament play, the Great Danes held a 6-12 record.
- Splitting a doubleheader at Army (Mar. 19), UAlbany fell in a doubleheader at Binghamton (Mar. 22) to open conference action.
- The Great Danes answered by going 4-0 including a series sweep over Bryant (Mar. 28-29) for their first home games.
- In the week of April 1, UAlbany went 4-0 with doubleheader sweeps at CCSU (Apr. 1) and against UMass Lowell (Apr. 4).
- The Great Danes went 1-3 during the week of April 7 with a loss to Siena (Apr. 10) and a 1-2 series at UMBC (Apr. 12-13).
- UAlbany dropped a midweek doubleheader against Syracuse (Apr. 23) and a conference doubleheader to Bryant (Apr. 27) after sweeping Maine at home (Apr. 19-20).
- To finish up the regular season, UAlbany dropped a doubleheader to Binghamton (May 2). Both games were decided by one run.
AT THE BATTER'S BOX
- Senior Caitlyn Frederick is batting a team high .349, placing her for fourth in the conference. She also holds a team-high .414 OBP. On top of that, Frederick leads the team with 26 stolen bases and 28 runs. Her stolen base total is good for first in the conference; she is leading the runner-up by seven SB.
- Sophomore Taylor Quinn follows batting .317. Combining speed and power, she has scored 22 runs, driven in 23 runs, and holds a .413 slugging percentage.
- Freshmen Ava Beal and Kaitlyn Parisi have been key contributors off the bench. Parisi holds a .300 batting average and Beal has added 15 hits for a .296 average.
- Sophomore Mary Kate Murray leads the team with 26 total RBI. Quinn (23) is in second and Victoria Vilarchao (19) places third.
- Vilarchao owns the team-high with nine extra-base hits. She leads with seven doubles and has added two home runs.
- Quinn has a conference-high three triples while junior Deanna Grahek leads the team with three home runs.
- Vanessa Meyers holds a .418 OBP with a .250 average due to her team-high 23 walks. She has been efficient on the bases going 6-6 in stolen bases.
- In conference contests, Mary Kate Murray is batting .400 and has a conference-best 22 RBI.
- Grahek is the only Great Dane to start and play in all 43 contests so far.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Three UAlbany pitchers are sharing time in the circle - Kate Powers has 18 starts while freshmen Hailey Errichiello and Hayley Wieczerzak both have 12.
- Powers leads with 10 complete games, including three shutouts, and 109.2 innings pitched. She is currently second-best in the conference with a 2.23 ERA.
- Hailey Errichiello is close behind with six complete games, including one shutout, and 80.0 innings pitched.
- Hayley Wieczerzak has pitched 70.0 innings but owns the team-high with 94 strikeouts. She has struck out at least 10 batters in two different games this season.
- Powers, Errichiello, and senior Dominique Prevette combined for a five-inning no-hitter shutout against Maine (Apr. 20)

ABOUT #1 BINGHAMTON
- The Bearcats have played to a 33-12 record this season with a 16-2 conference record.
- Playing in four tournaments, Binghamton went 12-8 including a perfect 5-0 weekend at the James Madison invitational (Mar. 7-9)
- Opening conference play with a doubleheader sweep of UAlbany (Mar.22), the Bearcats suffered their only two conference losses the following weekend at UMBC (Mar. 29).
- Binghamton continued its America East schedule with a sweep of Bryant (Apr. 4-5), Maine (Apr. 11), and UMass Lowell (Apr. 18).
- They got their revenge against UMBC by sweeping the three-game conference matchup (Apr. 26-27) and swept a midweek doubleheader against Colgate (Apr. 29).
- The Bearcats finished conference play with a doubleheader sweep at UAlbany (May. 2).
- As a team, Binghamton is hitting a league best, .304 while also leading the conference in home runs (64) and OPS (.912).
- Their high-powered offense is led by Elisa Allen who holds a .304 average and a league best 22 home runs. Emma Lawson holds a .428 OBP and a .377 average and Lindsey Walter provides the speed stealing 17 bases and scoring 36 runs on the year.
- In the circle the Bearcats are led by Brianna Roberts who has pitched to an 18-2 record this year and has posted a 2.12 ERA over 129.0 innings pitched.
SERIES AGAINST THE BEARCATS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 53-28.
- UAlbany and Binghamton faced off for a three-game series and a playoff matchup during the 2024 season. The Great Danes took two of three in the regular season and then beat Binghamton, 6-3, in the winner's bracket finale of the conference tournament.
- Earlier this season, UAlbany traveled to Binghamton for a conference doubleheader (Mar. 22). Binghamton took home both wins in five innings.
- Deanna Grahek slugged a home run and a triple to total three RBI. Mary Kate Murrary added three hits.
- In the final matchups of the season, Binghamton swept both ends of a doubleheader (May 2) by scores of 4-3 (eight innings) and 6-5.
ABOUT #2 UMBC
- As the two-seed for the America East 2025 Softball Championship the Retrievers have played to a 19-27 overall record and a 13-8 conference record.
- UMBC participated in four early season tournaments including two that they hosted themselves. They played to a 6-18 record through March 16.
- The Retrievers began conference play by winning the series, 2-3, against UMass Lowell (Mar. 22-23) and Binghamton (Mar. 29-30).
- The Retrievers followed up with three more conference series wins against Maine (Apr. 4-5), UAlbany (Apr. 12-13) and Bryant (Apr. 18-19).
- Their only conference series loss came at the hands of Binghamton when they were swept (Apr. 26-27).
- UMBC bounced back and took two of three against UMass Lowell (May 2-3) to finish America East play.
- At the plate, the Retrievers are led by Emily Riggs who is batting .343 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI.
- Jerzie Nutile ties Riggs for the team lead with 11 home runs and adds 26 of her own RBI.
- Kya Matter leads the pitching staff by pitching to a 13-10 record with a team-best 3.70 ERA. Matter has 141 strikeouts over 134.1 innings pitched.
SERIES AGAINST THE RETRIEVERS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 50-26.
- UAlbany and UMBC faced off three times in the 2024 season. The Great Danes won two out of three games.
- The Retrievers and Great Danes met three times this year (Apr. 12-13) with UMBC winning two out of three games.
- In 2023, UMBC ended UAlbany's championship hopes by defeating them, 9-3, in the championship game of the conference tournament.
ABOUT #4 BRYANT
- Bryant posted an 18-30 record with a 10-10 conference record.
- The Bulldogs competed in four tournaments and played to a 6-11 record.
- They returned north to begin conference play with a series sweep against Maine (Mar. 22-23) before being swept by UAlbany (Mar. 28-29) and Binghamton (Apr. 4-5).
- Bryant then won a series against UMass Lowell (Apr. 11-13) and took one game from UMBC (Apr. 18). Following that they swept a doubleheader from UAlbany (Apr. 27) and finished conference play by taking two of three from Maine (May 2-3).
- The Bulldogs offense is led by Sam Rohwer and Meaghan Houk.
- Rohwer has slugged 19 XBH including seven home runs while batting a team-high .353. Houk is close behind with a .345 average and six home runs.
- Maddy Wachter leads the Bulldogs in the circle posting a 3.30 ERA over 87.0 innings pitched.
SERIES AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 12-10.
- This season, the Great Danes are 3-2 against the Bulldogs but lost the last two matchups of the year (Apr. 27).
- In the first series, UAbany swept Bryant thanks to a seven-hit performance by Caitlyn Frederick and a nine-RBI weekend from Mary Kate Murray. Taylor Quinn and Victoria Vilarchao also added six hits each.
- Kate Powers tallied two wins and had one complete game.
- In their second matchup, the script was flipped as Bryant swept the doubleheader. Vilarchao tallied four hits including a double. Sara Anderson and Caitlyn Fredrick each added three hits of their own.
ABOUT #5 UMASS LOWELL
- The River Hawks own a record of 17-27 and a 7-13 record in conference play.
- Participating in four tournaments, UMass Lowell played to a record of 4-14 before beginning conference play.
- UMass Lowell opened conference play with a series loss against UMBC (Mar. 22-23) and a sweep of Maine (Mar. 28-29). They followed up with a doubleheader loss to UAlbany (Apr. 4) and a series loss to Bryant (Apr. 11-13).
- The Riverhawks lost the last three series of the regular season against Binghamton (Apr. 18-19), Maine (Apr. 27-28), and UMBC (May 2-3)
- The Riverhawk offense is powered by Emily Baumes who is batting .316 with seven doubles. Baumes leads the team in average, RBI, and hits.
- On the rubber Olivia DeCitise leads UMass Lowell with a 3.56 ERA over 118.2 innings pitched. Giana LaCedra has also been a contributor by pitching 117.2 innings and posting a 4.44 ERA.
SERIES AGAINST THE RIVER HAWKS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 29-12.
- This season, the Great Danes are 2-0 against the River Hawks and hold a win-streak of six games dating back to last year.
- In last year's tournament, UAlbany defeated UMass Lowell in the opening round and championship en route to their America East title.
- In the series this year, Victoria Vilarchao had three hits including a home run and seven RBI.
- Kate Powers pitched two complete games compiling two wins and a save.
ABOUT #6 MAINE
- Maine has played to an 11-35 overall record and a 3-17 conference record.
- Playing in four early season tournaments, the Black Bears won four games while losing 14.
- Maine started conference play 0-14 being swept by Byrant (Mar. 22-23), UMass Lowell (Mar. 28-29), UMBC (Apr. 4-5), Binghamton (Apr. 11), and UAlbany (Apr. 19-20).
- The Black Bears swung back with a conference series win against UMass Lowell (Apr. 27-28) and took one game from Bryant in the final regular-season series of the year (May 2).
- At the plate Maine is led by Bailey Snowberger who has a team high .273 average. The power is provided by Gabby Papushka who leads the team in home runs (6) and doubles (10).
- In the circle, the Black Bears are led by Madison Simmerman who holds 3.26 ERA over 96.2 innings pitched.
- Alysen Reith has totaled 139.1 innings pitched and a 4.72 ERA while striking out 118 batters.
SERIES AGAINST THE BLACK BEARS
- The Great Danes lead the series, 48-13.
- UAlbany is riding a 12-game win streak against Maine dating back to 2023.
- This season, the Great Danes swept the three-game conference matchup (Apr. 19-20)
- Caitlyn Frederick notched seven hits including a home run and Mary Kate Murray added four hits and seven RBI.
- Kate Powers posted two wins and two complete games.
- The last time they met in the tournament was in 2023 where the Great Danes defeated Maine twice and ended their season.
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
- Binghamton claimed the number one seed as America East Regular Season Champions. They currently have a 16-2 league record.
- UMBC comes in second with a 13-8 record.
- UAlbany finished at 9-8 to round out the teams with winning league records and claim the third seed in the tournament.
- Bryant ended the season at .500 with a 10-10 record for the fourth seed.
- UMass Lowell (7-13) and Maine (3-17) round out the conference for the fifth and sixth seeds in the tournament.
