LAST WEEK IN REVIEW
  • The Great Danes went 3-0 last week with a conference sweep of Maine (Apr. 19-20).
  • After winning both in the doubleheader on Saturday (Apr. 19), the Great Danes dominated on Sunday (Apr. 20) no-hitting the Black Bears for a 12-0 win in five innings.
  • Redshirt-senior Kate Powers pitched 9.0 innings without allowing an earned run. 
  • Caitlyn Frederick added seven hits including her first career home run on Saturday and a triple on Sunday. She drove in a team-high seven runs on the weekend. 
  • Sophomore Taylor Quinn batted 4-9 (.444) and had three RBI.
  • Mary Kate Murray cleaned up the bases sharing the team-high seven RBI over the three games. 
 
GREAT DANE REWIND
  • UAlbany is currently 19-18 on the season with a 9-4 conference record.
  • After four weekends of tournament play, the Great Danes held a 6-12 record. 
  • Splitting a doubleheader at Army (Mar. 19), UAlbany fell in a doubleheader at Binghamton (Mar. 22) to open conference play.
  • The Great Danes answered by going 4-0 including a series sweep over Bryant for their first home games.
  • In the week of April 1, UAlbany went 4-0 with doubleheader sweeps at CCSU (Apr. 1) and against UMass Lowell (Apr. 4).
  • The Great Danes went 1-3 during the week of April 7 with a loss to Siena (Apr. 10) and a 1-2 series at UMBC (Apr. 12-13).
  • Most recently, UAlbany added a conference series sweep against Maine (Apr. 19-20).
 
AT THE BATTER'S BOX
  • Caitlyn Frederick is batting a team high .358, placing her for fourth in the conference. She also holds a team-high .424 OBP. On top of that, Frederick leads the team with 25 stolen bases and 26 runs. Her stolen base total is good for first in the conference; she is leading the runner-up by nine SB.
  • Taylor Quinn is batting a .339. Combining speed and power, she has scored 22 runs, driven in 20 runs, and holds a .446 slugging percentage. 
  • Freshmen Ava Beal and Kaitlyn Parisi have been key contributors off the bench. Both hold batting averages over .300 - Beal .333 and Parisi .300.   
  • After last week, sophomore Mary Kate Murray leads the team with 26 total RBI. Quinn (20) is in second and redshirt-senior Victoria Vilarchao (19) places third. 
  • Grahek is the only Great Dane to start and play in all 37 contests so far.
  • Grahek has totaled a team-high eight extra-base hits with three doubles, two triples, and three home runs. Vilarchao (team-high five 2B, two HR) and Quinn (three 2B, conference-high three 3B, 1 HR) follow with seven each.
  • Vanessa Meyers holds a .415 OBP with a .250 average due to her team-high 19 walks. She has been efficient on the bases going 6-6 in stolen bases.
  • In conference contests, Mary Kate Murray is batting .469 and has a conference-best 22 RBI. 
 
IN THE CIRCLE
  • Three UAlbany pitchers are sharing time in the circle - Kate Powers has 15 starts while freshman Hailey Errichiello has 11 and freshman Hayley Wieczerzak has 10. 
  • Powers leads with nine complete games, including three shutouts, and 93.1 innings pitched. She is currently best in the conference with a 2.18 ERA.
  • Hailey Errichiello is close behind with five complete games, including one shutout, and 71.1 innings pitched.
  • Hayley Wieczerzak has pitched 56.2 innings but owns the team-high with 83 strikeouts. She has struck out at least 10 batters in two different games this season.
  • Powers, Errichiello and senior Dominique Prevette combined for a five-inning no-hitter in the final game against Maine this past weekend (April 20). 
 
2025 WEEKLY AWARDS  
ABOUT SYRACUSE
  • The Orange opened their season at the UNCW Tournament (Feb. 7-9), the Columbus Classic (Feb. 14-16), the Georgia Classic (Feb. 21-23), and the Blue Hen Invitational (Feb. 27- Mar. 1).
  • In their tournament schedule, Syracuse started off 11-0 for the best start in program history before their first loss came to #9 Georgia (Feb. 22). They finished tournament play with a 16-3 record. 
  • In conference action, the Orange are 3-15 with wins against #16 Duke (Mar. 14), UNC (Mar. 28) and Georgia Tech (Apr. 5). Their other conference matchups against #19 Stanford (Mar. 7-9), Clemson (Mar. 21-23), and Virginia (Apr. 12-13) have resulted in sweeps. 
  • Out of conference, Syracuse has two wins against Niagara (Mar. 19) and one against Le Moyne (Mar. 26) along with a 2-1 loss to Cornell (Apr. 9). 
  • Madelyn Lopez leads the Orange offense, hitting .422 with 49 hits, a team-high 23 RBI, seven doubles, and two home runs. 
  • Two players are hitting over .300. Tessa Galipeau is hitting .337 with a team-high nine doubles, 30 hits and 15 RBI. Angie Ramos has a .313 average with 35 hits and 19 RBI. 
  • In the circle, Madison Knight has a team-best 3.75 ERA over 114.0 innings with 13 complete games and a team-high 90 strikeouts. 
  • Julianna Verni is close behind with a 3.93 ERA in 83.2 IP and 68 strikeouts. 
 
SERIES AGAINST THE ORANGE
  • Syracuse leads the series, 2-1. 
  • UAlbany and Syracuse last faced off in a doubleheader in 2023, each taking a win. 
  • Three current Great Danes - Deanna Grahek, Christie Collins and Sara Anderson - scored all of the runs in the 5-0 game-one victory. 
 
ABOUT BRYANT
  • The Bulldogs have started the season off 14-26. 
  • Playing in four tournaments, Bryant went 6-11 before adding on three more losses and one win to round out their preseason contests. 
  • Opening conference play with Maine (Mar. 22-23), the Bulldogs started 3-0.
  • Bryant continued its America East schedule with UAlbany (Mar. 28-29), Binghamton (Apr. 4-5), and UMass Lowell (Apr. 11-13) bringing the Bulldogs to a 5-7 conference record with wins coming against UMass Lowell. 
  • Most recently, Bryant faced UMBC for a three-game series where they added one win and two losses to their record. 
  • Before hosting UAlbany, the Bulldogs will host Providence for a midweek single game on Wednesday (Apr. 23).  
  • Meaghan Houk leads Bryant's offense, hitting .385 with 35 hits, four home runs, and 25 RBI. 
  • Three other Bulldogs are hitting over .300. Sam Rohwer is hitting .346 with a team-best 30 RBI and six home runs. McKenzie McAllon has a .307 average with 23 hits. Bryce Clendenin is batting .303 with 36 hits and five doubles. 
  • Makenna Coleman is tied with Rohwer with the team-best six home runs.
  • Maddy Wachter has spent the most time in the circle with 73.2 innings pitched along with a 3.80 ERA and five complete games. 
  • Lexi Powell (55.0 IP) and Brooke Tracy (53.1 IP) back Wachter in the circle.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
  • The Great Danes lead the series, 12-8.
  • UAlbany and Bryant faced off for a three-game series during the 2024 season. The Bulldogs won all three contests. 
  • Earlier this season, the Great Danes hosted Bryant for a conference series (Mar. 28-29). UAlbany took home all three wins, two of which were mercy-rule victories. 
  • Mary Kate Murray led the way with a home run and nine RBI. 
  • Victoria Vilarchao added five hits over three games including a double. 
  • Hailey Errichiello, Kate Powers, and Hayley Wieczerzak all pitched complete games. 
 
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
  • After five weekends of conference play, Binghamton leads the conference with an 11-2 record. UMBC is right behind them at 11-4. 
  • UAlbany is on their heels at 9-4 to round out the teams with winning league records. 
  • Bryant is .400 with a 6-9 record after a win and two losses against UMBC. 
  • UMass Lowell is close behind with a 5-9 record. 
  • Maine rounds out the conference at 0-14 still searching for their first win.
