Leading the Pack
· UAlbany is 14-14 overall, and 6-6 on the road this season; UMBC holds a 13-16 overall record while 8-7 at home; NJIT has gone 5-23 overall and 4-7 at home.
· Four UAlbany players are recording double-digit scoring averages from Byron Joshua (13.9), Amar'e Marshall (13.5), Justin Neely (11.7), and DeMarr Langford Jr. (10.4).
· Amar'e Marshall leads the Great Danes with 351 points shooting 123-308 (.399%) from the field and 37-112 (.330%) from three-point range.
· On the glass, Neely records a team-high 197 (54 off – 143 def) rebounds averaging seven per game.
· Joshua owns a team-high 70 assists.
· Kacper Klaczek leads the team in denying shots with 16 blocks total while Langford Jr. tallies a team-high 43 steals.
· In minutes, DeMarr Langford Jr. leads the team with 849 total minutes played, averaging 31.4 minutes per game.
· Joshua and Langford Jr. are the only two Great Danes averaging 30 minutes or more with Joshua at 34.9 minutes per game and Langford Jr. with 31.4 per game.
Scouting UMBC
The Retrievers are coming off a week where they were swept in their series against UMass Lowell before completing a sweep of their own against NJIT. This season UMBC is averaging 80.8 points, 29.3 field goals, 8.9 threes, 13.2 free throws, 32.3 rebounds, 14.9 assists, 11.8 turnovers, 7.6 steals, and 2.8 blocks.
Leading the points tally for the Retrievers is Bryce Johnson with 500 total and averaging 17.2 per game. Johnson is shooting 176-339 (.519%) from the field, 50-133 (.376.%) from beyond the arc, and 98-131 (.748%) from the line. Johnson has also tallied the most minutes of any UMBC player (936) and is the only Retriever averaging over 30 minutes per game (32.3). Josh Odunowo leads off the glass for UMBC with 142 (59 off – 83 def) total rebounds and averaging 5.1 per game. Odunowo also owns the team-high in denying shots with 24 blocks.
Senior Marcus Banks Jr. tallies the most steals for the Retrievers with 37 and has also sunk the most threes having shot 93-228 (.408%). Ace Valentine has contributed the most assists on the team at 89.

January 23, 2025 | In their last meeting, Amar'e Marshall led the scoring for the Great Danes totaling 25 points in 43 minutes of play. Marshall joined Justin Neely and Byron Joshua in recording three assists each. Joshua and Marshall each recorded two steals. UAlbany outrebounded UMBC 41-38. The Great Danes went 31-78 (39.7%) from the field, 9-27 (33.3%) from beyond the arc, and 16-26 (61.5%) from the free-throw line. The Retrievers ultimately bested the Great Danes 92-87.
UAlbany is 29-18 all-time against UMBC and 12-9 away.
Scouting NJIT
The Highlanders are coming off a conference loss to UMBC (95-91) pushing them to a six-game losing streak. This season NJIT is averaging 65.3 points, 25.3 field goals, 6.8 threes, 11.5 free throws, 35.9 rebounds, 10.4 assists, 12.2 turnovers, 4.6 steals, and 3.9 blocks per game.
Tallying the most points for the Highlanders is Tariq Francis with 451 total and averaging 18.8 per game. Francis is shooting 157-436 (.360%) from the field, 60-187 (.321%) from beyond the arc, and 77-91 (.846%) from the line. The sophomore also tops the team in steals with 23.
Tim Moore Jr. leads off the glass for NJIT with 191 (60 off – 131 def) total rebounds and an average of 7.1 per game. Moore Jr. also owns the team-high 40 blocks.
Putting in the most minutes for the Highlanders is Sebastian Robinson and Francis, who are the only NJIT players currently averaging over 30 minutes per game. Robinson is averaging 33.1 minutes and Francis is averaging 34.5. Robinson has also contributed the most help and leads the team with 97 assists.

January 25, 2025 | In their last matchup, five Great Danes scored double-digit points, Amir Lindsey leading the pack with 15 in 26 minutes of play. Kacper Klaczek recorded a team-high four assists and eight rebounds. Justin Neely and Amir Lindsey each had a perfect free-throw record, Neely 5-5 and Lindsey 2-2. NJIT outrebounded UAlbany 33-37. The Great Danes went 21-49 (42.9%) from the field, 5-17 (29.4%) beyond the arc, and 21-28 (75%) from the field. The Great Danes came out with the win, 68-62.
Since November 2013, the Purple and Gold are 14-1 all-time against NJIT and are 4-1 away.
Last Time Out
February 22, 2025 | The UAlbany men's basketball team hosted New Hampshire for Senior Night. The Wildcats bested the Purple and Gold, 71-60. During the matchup, three Great Danes contributed double-digit points; their efforts were led by Byron Joshua with 20 and followed by Kacper Klaczek and Kheni Briggs who tallied 10 each. Joshua and Klaczek led off the boards with each claiming six rebounds. Amar'e Marshall and DeMarr Langford Jr. shared the team-high three steals. Justin Neely, Langford Jr., Klaczek, and Briggs had one block each. UAlbany shot 17-53 (32.1%) from the field, 8-23 (34.8%) from beyond the arc, and 18-26 (69.2) from the line.

Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops is officially back for a third season! Coaches Dwayne Killings and Colleen Mullen, along with select student-athletes, will join ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team's Charlie Voelker and Dan Bahl every Monday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. live from City Line Bar & Grill for a weekly segment entitled 'Drive the Lane with UAlbany Hoops'.
Fans are invited to come out to City Line Bar & Grill to join Coach Killings, Coach Mullen, student-athletes, and the ESPN Radio 104.5 The Team crew. Food and drink specials will be available every week as the teams embark on their new seasons and talk hoops every Monday.
Postgame Show
The UAlbany Basketball Postgame Show returns this season to 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio. The show will begin immediately following all games, home and away, for fans to listen to as they commute home or tune in from a distance.
The show is set to run for 30 minutes following the final buzzer on 104.5 The Team. Fans will hear initial reactions and a game recap to start the segment followed by interviews with the team. Coach Dwayne Killings and select student-athletes will join ESPN Radio's Rodger Wyland and Michael Johnson Jr. to break down the contest, give insights, opinions, and responses, and discuss the team's next matchup.
Fans can tune in to ESPN Radio 104.5 the Team by turning the dial on their radio or by streaming on their computers or smartphones.
