Men’s Basketball Fall to UNH on Senior Night

Score: UAlbany 60, New Hampshire 71

Short Story: The University at Albany men's basketball program fell to New Hampshire despite efforts to take home a Senior Night win.

Coach Dwayne Killings: "I thought we were mentally weak in terms of the fatigue of the game, the urgency of the game. Collectively, we couldn't get out of our own way. We were not prepared enough, and we were not ready to go... they beat us in every part of the game."

Key Stats:
  • Three Great Danes contributed double-digit points; their efforts were led by Byron Joshua with 20 and followed by Kacper Klaczek and Kheni Briggs who tallied 10 each.
  • Joshua and Klaczek led off the boards with each claiming six rebounds.
  • Amar'e Marshall and DeMarr Langford Jr. shared the team-high three steals.
  • Justin Neely, Langford Jr., Klaczek, and Briggs had one block each.
  • UAlbany shot 17-53 (32.1%) from the field, 8-23 (34.8%) from beyond the arc, and 18-26 (69.2) from the line.

How it Happened:
  •  Byron Joshua struck in the first thirty seconds for the Great Danes, which put them up in an early 2-0 lead.
  • After an initial two points UAlbany outscored the Wildcats 6-4 thanks to two threes from Amar'e Marshall and Kacper Klaczek to keep the lead 8-4 at 15:52.
  • From 13:58 to the ten-minute mark, the Great Danes outscored New Hampshire to stay up 14-11.
  • Between the ten- and five-minute mark the Wildcats managed to outscore UAlbany 10-5 to take the lead, 21-19.
  • New Hampshire extended their lead, 31-21, after dominating scoring in the last five minutes of the half.
  • By 17:12, the Great Danes were able to put up seven compared to the Wildcats' four which cut their lead to 35-28.
  • Both teams exchanged points back and forth, but New Hampshire retained the lead, 41-35 at 13:10.
  • After more alternating scoring the Wildcats led 47-40 at the ten-minute mark.
  • Between 9:51 and 7:14 the Great Danes were able to cut the score to 49-45, still in favor of New Hampshire.
  • From 6:24 to 1:31 the Wildcats outscored UAlbany 15-11 to stay ahead, 64-56.
  • In the last minute and a half, New Hampshire extended their lead to win 71-60.
