SHORT STORY: The Great Danes tipped off the 2025-26 season with a statement win over Marist in the Broadview Center, Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UAlbany came out strong with a 7-0 run to start the game by setting an early tone with quick ball movement and a pressure defense.
- Martina Borrellas led the team throughout the first quarter with seven of the team's 17 points.
- Amaya Stewart hit a layup followed by a Delanie Hill three-pointer to make it an 11-point game just 92 seconds into the second quarter.
- Stewart hit her stride halfway through the quarter with a block and two consecutive layups at the tail end of an 11-point scoring run for UAlbany.
- Hill scored her second three-pointer before a Borrellas free throw closed the first half with a 39-22 Great Dane advantage.
- The second half opened with back and forth action but two consecutive three-pointers started what proved to be 11 UAlbany points in two minutes for a 27-point lead with 2:18 remaining.
- Holding on to their 27-point advantage headed into the fourth quarter, the Great Danes started the final quarter with nine points while holding the Red Foxes off the board through four minutes of play.
- Marist came back in the final minutes of the game but the game was sealed as a UAlbany victory, 74-46.
NEXT: The Great Danes will head on the road for their second game of the season. They are set to visit the Dome and play Syracuse on Friday (Nov. 7).
