Kurz, Peeters Honored by America East

ALBANY, N.Y. - The University at Albany field hockey's Emma Peeters and Jette Kurz were honored by the America East, Tuesday.

A native of Wageningen, the Netherlands, Peeters was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Peeters served as the Great Danes' goalkeeper in a two-shutout weekend. She opened the week with five saves in a 2-0 win against Maine before adding an additional five saves in a 4-0 win against Colgate.

A native of Stuttgart, Germany, Kurz scored two goals over the weekend to be named the Rookie of the Week. Scoring her second and third goals in her career, she closed the game in both contests with the second goal against Maine and the fourth goal against Colgate.

Kurz' and Peeters' awards are two of three awards given out by the America East Conference each week. This is the first career weekly award for both Kurz and Peeters. As a team, the Great Danes have earned four AE weekly awards - Offensive Player of the Week (9.3 - Pilar Lorenzini), Defensive Player of the Week (9.23 - Mara Küskes; 10.7 - Emma Peeters), and Rookie of the Week (10.7 - Jette Kurz).

The Great Danes will be back in action on Friday at Bryant before returning home to host Northeastern (Oct. 12).
