SHORT STORY: The Great Danes scored nearly 50 points in the first half to lead to a 16-point victory at NJIT, Saturday afternoon.
COACH COLLEEN MULLEN: "I'm very proud of how the players showed up today. Right from the start they were aggressive and attacking. Our defensive intensity picked up in the second and third quarters and the players were dialed in to get stops. I'm very happy with their effort and the level of focus in executing the game plan."

- Graduate student Kaci Donovan led with 19 points, nine rebounds, and three steals.
- Fellow graduate student Jessica Tomasetti followed with 16 points, four rebounds, and two steals.
- Freshman Martina Borrellas (10) and graduate student Kayla Cooper (14) made it four Great Danes with double-digit points.
- As a team, UAlbany shot 54.5% from the field - 80% in the first quarter and 50% in both the second and fourth quarters.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Great Danes opened the contest with a 9-2 scoring run in three minutes.
- In a strong quarter for both teams, UAlbany and NJIT battled back and forth for the remainder of the first.
- Holding a 26-22 lead to start the second quarter, the Great Danes continued their offensive prowess while holding the Highlanders on defense.
- UAlbany quickly jumped to a 14-point advantage, 36-22, in just over two minutes.
- Despite the Highlanders closing the gap to 10, the Great Danes added seven points and held NJIT scoreless for over three minutes.
- After four last-minute points from the Highlanders, UAlbany entered halftime up, 49-33.
- Throughout the third quarter, the Great Danes held NJIT to just four points.
- In a defensive quarter for both teams, UAlbany added 12 points to lead 61-37 heading into the final quarter.
- The Great Danes continued to grow their advantage to what proved to be the largest of the game - 27 points at 8:23.
- NJIT came back with a 14-2 scoring run throughout the next six minutes to close the scoring gap to 15 points, 66-51, with under three minutes remaining.
- UAlbany came back with both defense and offense to close the game with back-and-forth action in the final three minutes and win the contest, 75-59.
