ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany baseball team will continue their homestand as they host UMass Lowell for a weekend series, starting 2:30 pm Friday.
The baseball team will be holding their annual Vs. Cancer game on Friday as they raise money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. On Saturday, the Great Dane seniors will be celebrated in a pre-game ceremony.

- UAlbany owns a 9-28 record while going 6-11 in conference play.
- Opening their season against #9 Tennessee (2.23-25), the Great Danes narrowly fell 5-8 in game one before being defeated 6-21 and 0-12.
- Continuing their road stretch, UAlbany was swept in a three-game series by George Washington (3.3-3) and lost four contests to Purdue (3.9-10)
- After falling to Army, the Great Danes were swept in a three-game series at Georgetown (3.15-17).
- Opening conference play, UAlbany split a doubleheader against UMass Lowell (2.22) and then took two games in a three-game set against Maine (3.30-31).
- The Great Danes defeated Siena (4.2), 17-12, in a crosstown matchup, before being swept by Bryant (4.6-7) and Marist (4.9) in a doubleheader.
- After being swept by UMBC (4.12-14), UAlbany bounced back to defeat CCSU (4.16).
- The Great Danes were swept at Binghamton (4.19-21) in a three-game series and lost to Le Moyne (4.23) in a midweek matchup.
- Most recently, the Great Danes have enjoyed a four-game win streak, sweeping NJIT (4.26-28) in a three-game weekend series and defeating Marist (4.30) in a midweek contest.
- Will Binder owns a team-high 43 hits with 17 extra-base hits, including 13 doubles, a triple, and three home runs.
- Luke Filippi has tallied a team-best 25 RBIs followed by Jared Toby with 23 and Ryan Ferremi with 22.

The baseball team has joined with the Vs. Cancer program to defeat childhood brain cancer. They will be holding their annual Vs. Cancer game tomorrow. Scouting UMass Lowell
The River Hawks have gone 20-22 this season with a 9-8 conference record.
- Beginning their season on the road, UMass Lowell won three games in a four-game series against High Point (2.16-18).
- The River Hawks were swept in their next three series against William & Mary (2.23-25), Kansas State (3.1-3), and Creighton (3.5-6).
- Falling in the series' first game against Oral Roberts, UMass Lowell bounced back to defeat them in the next two contests.
- The River Hawks claimed one contest in a three-game series at Penn State (3.14-16) before splitting a doubleheader against UAlbany (3.22) to begin conference play.
- Falling to Fairfield (3.26) and twice at NJIT (3.29-31), Marist was then defeated at home by Dartmouth (4.2).
- The River Hawks claimed their conference series at Binghamton (4.6-7) before falling to Merrimack (4.9).
- Going on a hot streak, UMass Lowell defeated Stonehill (4.10), Maine (4.12-14) twice, and Merrimack (4.16) before losing their series at Bryant (4.19-21).
- Recently, the River Hawks defeated Harvard (4.23), UMBC (4.26-28) twice, and Boston College (4.30).
- Carlos Martinez leads the offense with a .331 batting average, 24 doubles, and 35 RBIs.

The Great Danes have leaders in 11 of the hitting categories, two of the pitching categories, and three of the fielding categories.
2024 Captains
Will Binder,
Connor Eisenmann, and
Cregg Scherrer will serve as the captains for the Great Danes during the 2024 season. Binder enters his third season with UAlbany after starting his collegiate career at LaSalle. Since joining the Great Danes, he has started in 89 games and has a .325 batting average. Eisenmann returns to UAlbany for his fourth season. Through 37 appearances for the Great Danes, he has recorded a 5.93 ERA with 121 strikeouts and a .254 batting average against. Scherrer is a redshirt senior from Skaneateles, N.Y., entering his fifth season with the team. Appearing in 44 games, including 34 starts, Scherrer has struck out 195 batters and owns a 5.73 ERA.
2024 America East Preseason Poll
- UAlbany was picked to finish seventh in the 2024 America East Preseason Poll, earning eight points.
- The Bearcats were picked to finish first in the conference with 35 points, including five first-place votes.
- Maine, the defending champions, followed closely behind with 31 points and two first-place votes.
- UMBC (26) placed third, NJIT (19) fourth, and Bryant (18) fifth.
- UMass Lowell (10) and UAlbany rounded out the poll.
America East Standings
Bryant sits on top of the conference table being the only team with double-digit wins with 13.
UMBC sits in second with an 8-7 conference record with UMass Lowell trailing close behind having gone 9-8. Tied in fourth with a .429 win percentage is NJIT and Maine. Binghamton and UAlbany round out the conference with the Bearcats holding a one-win advantage.
