GREAT DANE REWIND
  • UAlbany is 21-11 with a 9-5 America East record.
  • The Great Danes began the season at NC State's Wolfpack Classic (Feb. 16-17). Accumulating one win in two games over Iona, UAlbany fell in both games against the ACC host.
  • At the annual Spring Games competition (Mar. 1-3), the Great Danes added a 4-1 record. 
  • In their first doubleheader of the season, UAlbany split the results against FDU (Mar. 9).
  • Moving on with the UMBC Spring Invite (March. 15-16), the Great Danes notched a 3-1 record with games against Niagara and Wisconsin. After a shutout against each team on Saturday, UAlbany added two one-run games on Sunday, including a no-hitter against Wisconsin.
  • In their first conference series, the Great Danes swept Maine with three victories, including one shutout (Mar. 30-31).
  • UAlbany went 2-1 against UMBC to win the series (Apr. 6-7). After the single-game win on Saturday, the two teams split the doubleheader on Sunday.
  • During a midweek doubleheader, the Great Danes won both games at UMass Lowell (Apr. 9) before falling in a three-game series at Bryant (Apr. 13-14).
  • Most recently, UAlbany defeated Binghamton at home (Apr. 20-21). After splitting the doubleheader on Saturday, the Great Danes won the rubber match for the series win.
  • UAlbany has added three non-conference wins with a doubleheader sweep over UMass (Mar. 27) and a victory over Providence (Apr. 18).

AT THE PLATE
  • Graduate student Caitlyn Mitros leads the team with a .380 batting average and 38 hits.
  • In total, four Great Danes own a batting average over .350 - graduate student Morgan Petty (.358), redshirt-junior Victoria Vilarchao (.355), and graduate student Maddi Petrella (.351) - with one additional student-athlete batting over .300 (freshman Mary Kate Murray (.306)).
  • Petty owns team-highs with 31 RBI, 27 runs, and eight home runs. Petrella follows closely with 24 RBI and six home runs while Mitros follows with 25 runs.
  • Petrella leads with 17 multi-base hits (11 doubles, six homers) and Petty follows closely with 16 (eight doubles, eight homers). Vilarchao has hit five doubles and four homers. 
  • Half of all of Petrella's hits are multi-base hits. Petty is just behind her reaching at least second base on 47% of her hits while Vilarchao is hitting 40% multi-base hits.
  • Sophomore Deanna Grahek, senior Jordan Nastos, and Mitros have hit one triple each.
 
IN THE CIRCLE
  • Graduate student Wendi Hammond continues to serve as the Great Danes' starting pitcher.
  • Hammond leads with 126.0 innings pitched, 15 complete games, 16 wins, including four shutouts, and 83 strikeouts. 
  • Redshirt-junior Kate Powers follows with seven complete games, 60.0 innings pitched, five wins, three of which are shutouts, and 31 strikeouts.
  • Junior Dominique Prevette has pitched for nine strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched.
  • At the UMBC Spring Invite, Powers and Hammond combined for four complete games, including two shutouts and a no-hitter. Allowing just one earned run throughout the competition, Hammond ended the weekend with a 0.00 ERA while Powers tallied a 0.64 ERA.
  • In their AE-opening series, Powers pitched a complete game shutout for just the second time this season. She allowed only one hit and one walk on her way to a 0.00 ERA in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. 
 
ABOUT ARMY
  • The Black Knights are 10-29 on the season with a 6-6 conference record.
  • Starting the season with five losses at the NFCA Leadoff Classic (Feb. 9-11), five losses at the Panther Invitational (Feb. 16-18), a 1-4 record at the I-75 Tournament (Feb. 23-25), a 1-3 record at the MTSU Invitational (Mar. 1-3), and a split 1-1 at the Morgan St. Tournament (Mar. 10), Army came out of the tournament season to play a doubleheader at Rider (Mar. 16) for one win and one loss.
  • With a 4-19 record, the Black Knights opened Patriot League play with three losses at Boston U. (Mar. 22, 24).
  • Army's first series sweep came over Holy Cross (Apr. 7-8) after splitting the three-game series, 1-2, at Bucknell (Mar. 30-31).
  • Their most recent conference action came from a 2-1 series win over Lafayette (Apr. 13-14).
  • The Black Knights have added wins in a doubleheader over CCSU and two losses to Fordham and Siena (one each).
  • Kayla Edwards (.382) and Ashton White (.371) lead the team with their respective batting averages.
  • Edwards has totaled a team-high with 13 doubles and 30 runs. White holds the lead with 29 RBI while following with 10 doubles.
  • In the circle, the Black Knights have utilized five different pitchers.
  • Amanda Eaglin has seen the most time with 83.2 innings pitched. Breanna Izzo (64.1) and Olivia Farris (53.0) follow.
  • Eaglin has started 19 games with five complete games, including one shutout win.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE BLACK KNIGHTS
  • The Great Danes lead the series, 16-9.
  • Most recently, UAlbany and Army split a doubleheader during the 2023 season. 
  • The Great Danes won a high-scoring 11-10 contest in eight innings for game one.
  • Game two resulted in a 7-3 win for the Black Knights.
 
ABOUT CCSU
  • The Blue Devils are 23-12 on the season with a 10-8 NEC record.
  • CCSU opened 2024 action with eight consecutive wins - Saint Peter's (x4), Holy Cross (x2), and Norfolk State (x2).
  • After a loss at Marist, the Blue Devils added shortened victories over Hampton and Holy Cross.
  • Starting off conference play with a 2-1 series win over FDU (Mar. 16-17), CCSU fell in all three games against LIU (Mar. 22, 24) before sweeping Le Moyne (Mar. 29-30).
  • Continuing the trend, the Blue Devils swept Wagner (Apr. 13-14) after three losses to Saint Francis U. (Apr. 6-7).
  • Most recently, CCSU swept a doubleheader against Army (Apr. 17) and went 2-1 in a three-game series against Merrimack (Apr. 20-21).
  • Ava Cino is hitting near .400 to lead the team. 
  • With four total hitters over .300, Paige Stringer leads with 33 RBI and 10 home runs.
  • Cino and Kassandra Machado follow with 25 RBI while Machado holds a team-high 19 extra-base hits.
 
SERIES AGAINST THE BLUE DEVILS
  • The Great Danes lead the series, 6-2.
  • Each of the series' four doubleheaders have been sweeps. 
  • UAlbany is undefeated at home with two doubleheaders.
  • The Great Danes have swept each of the two most recent doubleheaders - 2021 and 2022. 
  • The 2022 contests consisted of an 8-1 win and a 14-4 victory in 6 innings.
 
AROUND THE AMERICA EAST
  • Bryant is winning 80% of their conference games to lead the conference.
  • Binghamton follows with 10 wins in 14 games.
  • UAlbany rounds out the top three with a 9-5 AE record.
  • UMBC sits just above .500 with an 8-7 league record.
  • UMass Lowell owns three wins in 13 AE contests.
  • Maine rounds out the conference with one win (1-14).
