ALBANY, N.Y. – The UAlbany baseball team will be on the road this weekend as they take on Binghamton. The first pitch of the series is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Friday.

  • After falling to Army, the Great Danes were swept in a three-game series at Georgetown (3.15-17).

  • Binghamton defeated Canisius (3.26) and swept Middle Tennessee (3.28-30), but then lost twice in their series to UMass Lowell (4.6-7).
  • Following a win over Le Moyne (4.9), Binghamton was swept by Bryant (4.12-14) and fell to Cornell (4.16).
  • Mike Gunning has been a force at the plate with a .306 batting average, slugging 13 home runs and 32 RBIs.
  • Logan Haskell leads the team with a .320 batting average.
  • Gabe Driscoll heads the rotation with a 3.50 ERA and 46 strikeouts through 46.1 innings.

2024 Captains
Will Binder, Connor Eisenmann, and Cregg Scherrer will serve as the captains for the Great Danes during the 2024 season. Binder enters his third season with UAlbany after starting his collegiate career at LaSalle. Since joining the Great Danes, he has started in 89 games and has a .325 batting average. Eisenmann returns to UAlbany for his fourth season. Through 37 appearances for the Great Danes, he has recorded a 5.93 ERA with 121 strikeouts and a .254 batting average against. Scherrer is a redshirt senior from Skaneateles, N.Y., entering his fifth season with the team. Appearing in 44 games, including 34 starts, Scherrer has struck out 195 batters and owns a 5.73 ERA.
 
2024 America East Preseason Poll
  • UAlbany was picked to finish seventh in the 2024 America East Preseason Poll, earning eight points.
  • The Bearcats were picked to finish first in the conference with 35 points, including five first-place votes.
  • Maine, the defending champions, followed closely behind with 31 points and two first-place votes.
  • UMBC (26) placed third, NJIT (19) fourth, and Bryant (18) fifth.
  • UMass Lowell (10) and UAlbany rounded out the poll.
 
America East Standings

Bryant sits on top of the conference table having won 11 of their 12 conference contests. UMBC is second with a 6-3 with UMass Lowell trailing close behind have gone 6-5. NJIT sits in fourth with a .500 record. Maine has gone 4-7 in conference play. UAlbany and Binghamton round out the conference with three conference wins with the Great Danes holding the slight advantage having lost one less game.
