SHORT STORY: In a second offensive battle against Iona, the Great Danes were able to come out on top to end the Wolfpack Classic with a win, Sunday morning.

KEY STATS
- Three Great Danes went 3-4 from the batter's box - graduate students Caitlyn Mitros and Maddi Petrella and senior Jordan Nastos.
- Adding one hit, a double, graduate student Morgan Petty drove in a team-high three RBI.
- Petrella and redshirt-junior Victoria Vilarchao followed with two RBI each.
- Mitros led with a game-high three runs.
- UAlbany pitchers, junior Dominique Prevette and graduate student Wendi Hammond, combined for six strikeouts, with Hammond totaling five in 5.2 innings pitched.
- As a team, the Great Danes totaled five doubles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The scoring started right away as Iona opened the game with a home run.
- UAlbany answered with two singles in two batters, Caitlyn Mitros and Jordan Nastos, before adding an RBI single from Maddi Petrella.
- Sophomore Sara Anderson followed Petrella with a second RBI.
- Victoria Vilarchao hit a double for what proved to be the last two runs of the inning as the Great Danes took a 4-1 lead.
- The Gaels added four runs in the top of the second to take the lead.
- With two more hits in the bottom of the second, UAlbany put two runners on base.
- Tallying the third double of the game, Morgan Petty drove in two runs to give UAlbany a one-run advantage, 6-5, at the end of the second inning.
- Leaving three runners on base, Wendi Hammond closed the top of the third with a strikeout.
- Despite adding two more strikeouts, the Gaels were able to tie the score at six in the top of the fourth.
- Adding her second double of the game, Petrella started the bottom of the fifth by getting on base.
- Freshman Mary Kate Murray drove in Petrella with a sacrifice fly after Anderson brought her to third with a sac bunt.
- With UAlbany up, 7-6, at the beginning of the sixth, the Gaels once again tied the score with a run in the top of the sixth.
- The Great Danes answered by putting two runners on base with singles from sophomore Kasey Conn and Mitros.
- Nastos, Petty, and Petrella drove in one run each to give UAlbany a 10-7 advantage heading into the final inning.
- Ending the game with a double play and a strikeout, the Great Danes secured their first win of the season.
