SHORT STORY: A strong defensive performance paved the way for UAlbany to defeat UMass Lowell in their final home game of the regular season, Saturday afternoon.

- Freshman Deja Evans had a great all-around performance recording a team-high 15 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UAlbany cracked the scoreboard first after UMass Lowell received a technical foul before the tip-off.
- The two sides traded baskets in the opening three minutes as the Great Danes crept out to an 8-5 advantage.
- UAlbany enjoyed an 8-2 scoring run to extend the margin to 16-10 with 1:44 remaining.
- The first quarter closed with the Great Danes holding an 18-14 lead.
- Scoring six unanswered points to open the second quarter, UAlbany jumped out to a 24-14 advantage at 7:37, the first double-digit lead of the night.
- Lilly Phillips turned defense into offense as she stole the ball to create a fastbreak layup giving UAlbany a 30-20 lead heading into halftime.
- The second half began with the two sides trading baskets for about four minutes.
- Continuing to attack the paint to find scoring opportunities, the Great Danes broke out on a 6-2 scoring run to end the third quarter while holding the River Hawks scoreless for nearly five minutes.
- The UAlbany offense entered the fourth quarter rekindled as they displayed an ability to score from anywhere on the court and put up 10 unanswered points.
- UMass Lowell answered midway through the final quarter with a 9-4 scoring stretch to close the point gap.
- UAlbany went on to win the contest, 59-39, to defeat UMass Lowell for the second time this season and complete the sweep.
NEXT: The Great Danes will close the regular season on the road at New Hampshire (Feb. 29) and Maine (Mar. 2).
