Leading the Pack
- Junior Outfielder Dan Tauken is batting a team-high .333 with 18 hits with six doubles and four home runs. He has 16 RBIs and has scored 13 runs. Tauken ranks fourth in slugging percentage (.667) and fifth in OPS (1.086) in the America East. He did not play last weekend due to injury.
- Will Binder leads the team in hits (24), RBIs (19), runs scored (17) and is tied for the lead in home runs (4). He has also brought his batting average up to .282, which has landed him second on the team.Â
- Chris Fisher leads the team in on-base percentage (.440). This percentage also ranks him ninth in the America East.
- Jason Bottari has a team leading 11 stolen bases which rank third in the America East. He also ranks second on the team in hits (22).
- Cregg Scherrer has seen his ERA drop down to 5.52 over his last few starts. He has pitched 31.0 innings, leading the team in punch-outs (33) and opponents' batting average (.256). Scherrer ranks second in strikeouts looking (9), fourth in strikeouts, fifth in hits allowed (30) and seventh in opponents' batting average in the America East.
- Freshman Ryan Pittz continues his streak of not allowing any earned runs. He is up to nine innings pitched, allowing eight hits and striking out three. Opposing hitters are only batting .235 against him, which leads the team.
- As a team, the Great Danes sit with a .240 batting average, .698 OPS, and a .346 slugging percentage. The pitching staff sits with a combined 8.08 ERA with opponents' batting .337.

Last Time Out
UAlbany lost a midweek road matchup against Marist, the final score was 5-7. The Great Danes used eight pitchers to get through the matchup, they look to rest up and prepare for conference play this weekend at Maine.
- Jason Bottari led the offense, going 2-4 with a walk and two of the Great Danes' five runs scored. Â Â
- Carson Dunkel and Danny Alvarez also had two-hit days, both also adding a walk and an RBI to their line.
- Sophomore Josh Salandy came up clutch late in the game with a two-RBI double in the eighth.
- The Great Danes' bullpen did not allow any runs in the final three innings, the team also outscored Marist 4-2 from the fifth inning on.

Scouting Maine
The Black Bears come into the weekend series with an overall record of 12-11. The team has won nine of their last ten games. Last time out, the Black Bears swept their three-game series with UMass Lowell with final scores of 9-3, 9-8, and 6-3. The Black Bears enter this series 6-0 in America East play and look to add to their best conference start since the 2012 season when they started 7-0.
- Maine ranked fourth in the 2023 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 21 points and one first place vote.
- Dylan McNary was named America East Player of the Week for his performance in the weekend sweep against UMass Lowell. He hit two home runs, brought in six runs, scored four runs and stole a base out of the nine spot in the Black Bears' lineup.
- Quinn McDaniel leads the team in batting average (.372), runs (35), on-base percentage (.569), stolen bases (13), walks (35) and OPS (1.274). He is second on the team in homeruns (7) and slugging (.705). He ranks first in; on-base percentage, stolen bases, walks, runs scored and OPS, and third in batting average and slugging in the America East.
- Jeremiah Jenkins leads the Black Bears and the America East with nine home runs. He also leads the team in RBIs (31) and slugging percentage (.713). Jenkins ranks second in RBIs, slugging, OPS and on-base percentage in the America East.
- Noah Lewis leads the Black Bears pitching rotation with 40.1 innings pitched, three wins and 37 punch-outs. He ranks second among America East pitchers in those categories.
- Colin Fitzgerald has a team-high 4.10 ERA which also ranks him third in the America East. In 37.1 innings pitched he has stuck out 29 batters, allowing 35 hits and 19 earned runs (fifth in the America East).
- The team is batting .294 with a .905 OPS, a .489 sugging percentage, and a .416 on-base percentage.
- The Black Bears pitching staff sits with a 7.89 ERA with opponents' batting .294.

2022 America East Preseason Poll
The UAlbany baseball team was picked to finish seventh in the 2023 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning nine points. The Binghamton Bearcats, the league's defending champions, were picked to finish in first place with 31 points, collecting four first place votes. UMass Lowell followed closely behind with 28 points and two first place votes. Bryant (25) placed third, Maine (21) fourth, and NJIT (19) fifth. UMBC (14) and UAlbany rounded out the poll.

2023 Captains
Will Feil and
Jason Bottari will serve as the Captains of the Great Danes during the 2023 season. Feil, a redshirt senior, enters his fifth year with the program – having joined before the 2019 campaign. He has been a mainstay for the Great Danes, playing in 35+ games the last two years. Bottari, also a redshirt senior, enters his fifth season as well. He currently holds the UAlbany single season stolen base record (44) and has more stolen bases than any other Great Dane in program history.
