Leading the Pack
- Junior Outfielder Dan Tauken continues to rake for the Great Danes. He is batting .406 and has totaled a team-high 13 hits with four doubles and three home runs. He has 12 RBIs and has scored 10 runs,
- Captain Will Feil has raised his average to .300, collecting 12 hits over the first 10 games. He has shown discipline at the plate with a team-high 11 walks, adding 12 RBIs on 12 hits with nine runs scored.
- Cregg Scherrer and Connor Eisenmann have slotted in as UAlbany's 1-2 punch at starting pitcher. Scherrer has a 6.60 ERO over 15.0 innings pitched, Eisenmann rocks a 9.95 ERA over 12.2 innings pitched.
- Redshirt freshman Matthew Mariano and true freshman Dylan Banner have each started games for UAlbany and have proven to be dangerous out of the bullpen. Mariano has a 5.79 ERA over 4.2 innings and Banner has a 6.57 ERA over 12.1.
- Freshamn Ryan Pittz has not allowed a run in 4.0 innings, allowing just three hits.
- As a team, the Great Danes sit with a .249 batting average, .732 OPS, and a .346 slugging percentage. The pitching staff sits with a combined 7.94 ERA with opponents batting .348.

Last Time Out
UAlbany went 1-2 over the weekend against Big East foe St. John's. The Great Danes picked up a 9-5 win on Friday thanks to four shutout innings from the bullpen and a four RBI performance from
Dan Tauken.
- Tauken went 5-13 over the weekend with two doubles and a home run. He knocked in four RBIs and added two runs and a walk.
- Chris Fisher went 3-6 for a .500 average. He had a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
- Will Feil and Devan Kruzinski each went 4-13 over the weekend. Kruzinski had a team-high five RBIs to go along with a double and two runs scored.
- Ryan Pittz pitched two shutout innings for UAlbany, joining Rob Manetta (one inning pitched) as the only UAlbany pitchers to not allow a run while tossing at least one inning.

Scouting Maryland
The Terrapins come into the weekend series with an overall record of 9-7. The team started off the season by going 4-7 before rattling off five-straight wins. Four of those wins came against America East opponents, with the Terrapins beating UMBC 12-6 before sweeping Maine in a three-game series. Maryland scored 25 runs against Maine in the first game of their series last weekend.
- Maryland entered the season as the No. 13 team in the nation before falling to 18 and eventually becoming unranked.
- Jason Savacool, Matt Shaw and Luke Shliger were each named 2023 Division I Pre-Season All-Americans.
- Savacool and Shaw were also named to the Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List.
- Nick Lorusso leads the team with a .338 batting average, collecting 23 hits on 68 at-bats. Her also leads the team with eight home runs and 26 RBIs.
- Savacool has been Maryland's ace this season. He's gone 2-2 in four starts with a 3.00 ERA over 24.0 innings pitched, striking out 22 batters.
- The team is batting .286 with a .950 OPS, a .524 sugging percentage, and a .426 on-base percentage.
- The pitching staff as a whole sits with a 5.54 ERA with opponents batting .275.

2022 America East Preseason Poll
The UAlbany baseball team was picked to finish seventh in the 2023 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning nine points. The Binghamton Bearcats, the league's defending champions, were picked to finish in first place with 31 points, collecting four first place votes. UMass Lowell followed closely behind with 28 points and two first place votes. Bryant (25) placed third, Maine (21) fourth, and NJIT (19) fifth. UMBC (14) and UAlbany rounded out the poll.

2023 Captains
Will Feil and
Jason Bottari will serve as the Captains of the Great Danes during the 2023 season. Feil, a redshirt senior, enters his fifth year with the program – having joined before the 2019 campaign. He has been a mainstay for the Great Danes, playing in 35+ games the last two years. Bottari, also a redshirt senior, enters his fifth season as well. He currently holds the UAlbany single season stolen base record (44) and has more stolen bases than any other Great Dane in program history.
